In the 1990s I lived in Sausalito and discovered a wonderful little Japanese restaurant on Caledonia Street where I ate at least twice a week for a number of years. Time marches on, now I live in Napa and Fuku-suke has moved to Larkspur. Because neither my wife nor I drive after dark it has been difficult for us to get to Fuku-suke, which is open only for dinner. But once or twice a year we get to the Larkspur location. We were there last Sunday and were pleased to find our old friends, Mama-san serving and her son Warren-san in the kitchen are still there and it is better than ever with a much-expanded menu and the same meticulously prepared dishes. I have never had better sashimi and my wife loves their Bento box. The place is small and a bit out of the way, but for top notch Japanese food and a warm, welcoming atmosphere, Fuku-suke is an excellent choice.

Sushi-ko

Forget all the faddish wacko/crazy rolls. I you want to have authentic, freshly made sushi made by masters (all sushi chefs have been at the counter for the 20+ years I've been coming here. The fish and vegetables are bought daily, impeccably prepared in an authentic setting. The green tea is served at the exact temperature. Daily specials are inspired. Japanese culture is founded on refinement...and subtlety. So is Sushi-Ko.

We finally made it here and were not dissapointed! We tried the Marin roll and the Larkspur roll. Not only were they delicious, they were beautiful as well. Great flavor, texture and the combinations worked well. We will definitely be back! Wish they were open for lunch. Made us feel very welcome too.

Oyama Sushi

Reviewed By scottderrick

Greenbrae isn’t known for diversity in its’ population nor in it’s food choices. Oyama Sushi is an overpriced but serviceable restaurant if you are in the neighborhood and craving Japanese cuisine. Appropriately in the local strip mall, BonAire, it’s got an extensive menu heavy on the appetizers with mainly authentic options but not well handled. The chirashi sushi lunch plate was sad with pieces of middling quality fish and three strange over handled balls of rice each one a bit smaller than the next. We also had the chicken katsu which was well fried with a crunchy panko crust and generous portions. It seems they can fry well but the fresh fish is not really up to par.If you can just hold on, drive on to Miller Street in Mill Valley and eat at Samurai if it’s sushi you want.
