It is the birthplace of the novelist Theodor Fontane (1819–1898) and therefore also referred to as Fontanestadt. A garrison town since 1688 and largely rebuilt in a Neoclassical style after a devastating fire in 1787, Neuruppin has the reputation of being "the most Prussian of all Prussian towns".

Das ist ein hübsches Lokal mit Seeblick. Die Speisekarte verspricht deutsche gutbügerliche Küche , neben einigen Fischgerichten gibt es Schnitzel, die Beilagen sind teilweise wähl- oder austauschbar. Roulade gab es nicht stattdessen nur Gulasch, Rindersteaks oder rafinierte gerichte gibt es nicht. Der Besitzer ist nüchtern freundlich, lange Wartezeiten gibt es nicht. Allerdings war Bitter Lemon fast ohne Kohlensäure. Das Schnitzel kam extrem schnell auf den Teller, die Pommes waren ok. Aber die Champignon-SoÃe undefinierbar, süà säuerlich im Geschmack. Das lag u.a. daran: Champignons aus dem Glas oder der Dose, mit dem dafür seltsamen Geschmack. Und das, wo diese frisch auf dem Markt auch kaum etwas kosten.Da spart man am falschen Ende und das kann man einfach besser machen.

This restuarant is in the middle of a very pretty forest. Lots of external seatings with a little brook passing by. The food is very authentic German and very tasty with reasonable prices. If you go for a walk in the forest and then have a meal, it offers a really nice day outside the city of Berlin. You get the feeling of what the small resorts in East Germany used to be like.

Auf der Suche nach einem Mittagessen sind wir, bei der Durchfahrt durch Alt Ruppin, auf das Restaurant und Hotel âAm alten Rhinâ gestoÃen und kehrten ein. Nach gefühlten 10 Minuten warten auf eine Platzzuweisung hatten wir dann zwei Plätze bekommen. Das bestellte Champion-Lauch Süppchen war eine Art Kleistermasse, also für unseren Geschmack etwas merkwürdig. Als Hauptgang haben wir âGrünkohl sattâ bestellt. Alle Komponenten dieser Speise waren völlig überwürzt mit Salz. Das Kasseler war völlig trocken. Stunden nach dem Besuch hatte man immer noch von diesem Essen aufstoÃen müssen. Eine schreckliche Erfahrung, die wir nicht noch mal machen wollen.

Na, Neuruppin hat in der ganzen Stadt nur eine Eisdiele und die ist so berühmt und qualitativ gut, dass Leute sogar extra aus Nachbarorten kommen: Eisdiele Gelati von Paolo Zambon. Und jetzt macht da, ganz mutig, ein neuer kleiner Laden mit âGastroquereinsteigernâ auf. Mutig. Das Ergebnis ist aber super gut. Alles auf natürlicher Basis und extrem schmackhaft! Viel Glück, Euer Eis schmeckt phantastisch!Nur der Laden ist noch etwas spartanisch nüchtern - optisch (besonders das fast leere weiÃe Regal im Hintergrund). Noch ein bisschen Farbe und das Ambiente passt zur Spitzeneiscreme.Ãbrigens, unserem Enkelkind (3Jahre) war die Kugel runtergefallen. Prompt gab es kostenlos eine Neue und das Kind war wieder glücklich. Super Verhalten vom Chef dort. Danke!.

We loved this restaurant. It is beautiful inside, and have a very nice garden for sitting outside. We were 4 couples and ate lunch - all the dishes were very tasty. The staff was really nice and I would definitely go back.

Unfortunately, the bad service ruins it all. This restaurant has a huge opportunity, next to a spa resort with a beautiful view of the lake, an hour from Europe's major capital city, and it really ought to be doing better with better and client friendly service. Property prices are going up all over the area, but this place is not keeping pace. The kitchen is acceptable, not brilliant, but the service is absolutely appalling. The waiters are slow, pay no attention and are charmless to the point of rude. Management should pay more attention.

We enjoyed a dinner and lunch at Theo's having fish. The food was great. This was the best fish dish for a long time. They also serve meat and we saw the portions were very big. The service was friendly and the price very fair.

The enthusiastic owner of this place cares about every detail. Our meals were great and the service outstanding. I had a delicious vegetarian dish of rice and zuccini. I didn't ask, but I'm sure they would also cater to vegans. Trying their various wonderful self-made oils and dressings made the meal extra fun.Thank you very much for this nice review
