Mahamaya restaurant was a restaurant I remembered well. It had a nice ambiance, served a good buffet, and I remember it was packed with different people from all over the world. Sadly, the place was somewhat sad and deserted during my recent visit. We were told by the local Indian staffs that their chef is "on holiday". Service was slow and lackluster. We had to wait for a long time before food could be served as the kitchen seemed to have difficulties coping. Once, we left for another restaurant because they could not even find time to make Marsala Chau while we wait for our food,! We were less hungry during the second visit, we were given hot lemon to nurse while waiting for our food. The saving grace is the food, when they eventually arrived, was consistently good. Overall, the restaurant seemed to have lost its marbles. Perhaps, the new venture in Mahamaya Fast Food, sold fast/street food style in front of the hotel, signals a shift in direction and focus..

This is an average restaurant, but can be considered good when you are on a tour to bodhgaya. Service is good.

I spend a week in the very nice guesthouse ( the White House) next to Fun Friday and enjoyed the great cooking of Ajay Kumar and his staff. They speak English and know everything about Bodhgaya. Many Europeans come there for food. Fun Friday is very close to the Roots Institute just off the main road towards the temples.

Very disappointed! Cafe looks lovely but the crab fried rice didn't contain any crab and the spaghetti dish was actually stir fried noodles - do they think we were all born yesterday?The portions were the size of starters and the price was twice that of anywhere else.My advice is don't go, they shouldn't be running a cafe!Sorry thay we make you so disappointed . Yes our portion is small if you compare with others but its asian size. Our price is a bit high than local because most of ingredient were imported from Thailand to made authentic Thai food. For the Spaghetti we confirm that we use Italian Spaghetti Brand not noodle for every Spaghetti dish in our cafe. But so sorry again that we make you feel not good. We will improve by increase portion of every dish in this season. Hope you will give us a chance and thank you for your complain to improve our service.

We came here for lunch after a disappointing meal at Tirupati across the road. Food was tasty, staff friendly. A basic Bodh Gaya food experience with no problems. Lots of large Indian tour groups so lively atmosphere. You can sit inside or in the covered garden area.

Food quality is ok...ish. This is actually a small cafe. You may have to share table with other guests without your consent. Prices are reasonable.

I found this place during the Dalai Lamas teachings in January. There were a lot of people in Bodhgaya and this was one of the few places in the middle of town that you could escape to and find some peace! It has good fresh food at a good price and a view over Bodgaya. You can see the top of the Mahabodhi temple from the tables!

I have been a regular visitor over past couple of months to work from the cafe and was surprised to find such an amazing place in Bodh Gaya. Freshly prepared tasty food, reasonably priced as compared to other coffee chains, amazing ambience and excellent choice of music! Parmatma is really attentive and helpful looking after the guests. Quirky pleasant decor, with only one hitch...feel books should have been placed on a side shelf to browse through rather being stuck on ceiling...
