Arrived here with high expectations based on TA reviews. We had 4 dishesPrawn spring rolls - goodSquid soup with rice (it's like a squid porridge) - best dish of the mealSeafood bbq - their special, very poor value @ 200k vnd. Bland, small portion prawns not fresh.Beef with lemon grass and chilli - average.

While staying at the very lovely but very expensive La Veranda resort, we decided to check out this little local place just a few steps from the main gate of our hotel. It was a good decision. The food and the price were a welcome change from the resort. We tried both lunch and dinner and were not disappointed. We especially enjoyed the crab cakes, the spring rolls and the Thai red curry. The best was the seafood bbq at dinner. The fish and tiger prawns fresh off the grill were delicious. During our three week trip through Vietnam we encountered many friendly and welcoming people but none more so than our host, Dat, at Areca. He and his family provided great service with a smile and could not have been any more gracious. For simple and inexpensively priced local fare served with friendly appreciation, Areca should not be missed

Went to Andy's a few times for happy hour before going out for diner on the main road. Great cocktails, Should be named Anders' bar as is owned by a Swede. Staff are still learning but were very friendly.
