Things to do in Aomori
Came across this place yesterday and after 2 weeks away we were hanging out for a good steak. We were feeling a bit unsure as we had gone to a texan steakhouse in Toyama and it didnât taste or smell like steak but had the price tag of a steak in Japan. Ikinari ticked all the boxes, good quality meat, amazing aroma and flavour and cooked to perfection. The price was also less than we would pay in a similar restaurant in Australia so we were very impressed.
I have never visited this place in person but my dad has been ordering sushi and sashimi plates from them to celebrate a new year home for many years. Their scallops are so huge, shrimps are transparent and sweat, and tunas are to die for!!!Served with freshly grated wasabi, shredded daikon, oba, and real kogiku, each sushi is beautifully crafted and well presented. This is a small restaurant with a limited menu but wow, was the sushi great. We ordered by going outside and pointing at the models in their display case. I had the raw tuna with rice bowl and my colleagues had the 8 kinds of sushi. We all had beer. we were all extremely pleased and had plenty for dinner. One person spoke some English but it did not matter. It appears that the sushi is fresh from the port as it was excellent.

If you are looking for great Aomori local delicacies, this is it. Simple, unpretentious, authentic. The locals love it here! The food portions were good size and the taste was really good. There is something for everyone! This is definitely briefly a place that will accommodate everyone in the family. And as in all Japanese izakayas, people smoke. So do note :)

You'll find this place at the new Aomori Fish Market at the bottom floor of Auga. A lot of local people frequented the restaurant at the time. A group of middleaged men were talking about a local resident in a heavy aomori dialect. It was almost impossible to pick up the details of their conversation, but that in itself made it fun and unique experience.I had the sashimi teishoku (1800 yen) which included uni, tako, akagai, maguro, hotate and a lot more sashimi a long with rice and a shirako soup. Good stuff. Fresh from the coast of Aomori where the Pacific meets the Japanese Sea.The hotate (scallop) was especially great. The tako (octopus) was impossible to chew, however. And I've had my fair share of both ika and tako in Japan. The uni was good, but not the best I've had. The maguro was great. All in all a nice sashimi lunch. The restaurant obviously get to work with some great ingredients, but some of the great sushi chefs of Japan might be able to use the same stuff to compose even better tasting food.

This place was a blast and with very good food too. On the entertainment side, there is a shamisen performance, dancing with semi-obligatory audience participation, drumming and general fun. That part alone would make me recommend this place. But even better, the food is really good. Things to definitely try: the corn tempura, the deep fried garlic and the hon-maguro (sashimi in our case) as well as the grilled scallops. The other food was good as well - really nothing disappointed. They have an English menu and drink menu so even without Japanese youâll be okay to order. Overall a really enjoyable evening. Highly recommended.

Walked to this restaurant from our hotel on previous recommendation on trip advisor. On arrival offered table or counter and chose counter, one young staff speaks reasonable English and also had a menu in English. Good food, Good service, no communication problems here and would recommend if you like Sushi this is the place to go in Aomori, fresh and reasonably priced.

Some friends from Tokyo were camping near Aomori so we met up for lunch at this highly- rated sushi restaurant. Although there have been long lines waiting to get in every evening, (itâs near my hotel, the JAL City Aomori) there were no lines for lunch. it was busy, but there was still ample seating available.I opted for a Sashimi Moriwase (mixed types of sashimi) and got Maguro (tuna) Ika (squid) Amaebi (sweet shrimp), Saba (mackerel), Akagai (red shellfish), Hotate (scallop) and a white fish we could not quite figure out, sort of a cross between Hamachi (yellowtail) and Grouper. The fish was super fresh and delicious. The Hotate had been sliced and a thin leaf of some thing had been inserted in the middle; whatever it was, the taste was great. The Miso Soup was delivered piping hot. The rice was really good and had a taste with just a wee bit more vinegar and sweet than usual, really distinctly different and good.Itâs excellent.
