Marsaxlokk (Maltese pronunciation: [marsaʃˈlɔk]) is a traditional fishing village in the South Eastern Region of Malta, with a population of 3,534 as of March 2014. The village’s name comes from marsa, which means "port" and xlokk, which is the local name for south east. The word is related to the name for the dry sirocco wind that blows from the Sahara, comparable to the equivalent Catalan word, "xaloc". The village is known for the Marsaxlokk Market, a large market which takes place around the whole village on Sundays and tourist market all days during the week. The inhabitants of the village are called the Xlukkajri and are historically fishermen.

My overall experience at Uncle Matt's Kitchen (Msida) was without any doubt a 10/10 considering that first of all, the atmosphere was delightful, the waiters who were Mark and Angelo served us perfectly and last but not least, we can't forget about the food which was deliciously prepared by the excellent chef Miguel. If you're looking for a great restaurant, I stronly recommend Uncle Matt's Kitchen since you surely won't regret it :)We cannot thank you enough for your very kind and excellent review of our restaurant in Msida. Angeloâs Mark and Miguel are truly remarkable young lads who make us ever so proud. We sincerely hope we can host you again In the near future in our other two locations Marsascala or Bird Park Salina, whilst obviously knowing you are always welcome at Msida also. We have visited this restaurant on various occasions for breakfast, lunch, dinners and even for drinks, I was always satisfied with the service and with the food especially the meats are amazing generous portions and cooked as requested, overall a nice place, keep it up

Being from the North, my boyfriend and I were always keen on visiting Tex Mex South. When we entered the establishment, we were welcomed by a super stylish interior, a lot of flat screen TVs, cosy armchairs and sofas, a very lovely decorated bar, and all the little details which gave the place a very positive vibe to it: from the amazing leather menus to the personalised wet wipes.We shared a pizzotto starter, I had the BBQ ribs and my boyfriend had the cider apple and honey ribs for mains, three cocktails and a mud pie for dessert. The pizzotto was divine! Served on a wooden chopping board, it had a Twisted shape and was served hot with oozing mozzarella, garlic butter and rucola. It went down very nicely and we were very surprised with its amazing taste. The ribs came and were generous in portion. My rack was amazing, coated with delicious sticky BBQ sauce and oh my God those sweet potato fries are to die for!! My boyfriend's ribs were a tad underdone, and the sauce tasted alot like apple puree which was a bit much, even though I took some of his and I enjoyed them, even though mine were admittedly better cooked and fell off the bone. The mud pie was presented very nicely. It was a mixture of ice cream and cookie layer, with crushed oreo cookie crumbs on top and bottom, nutella drizziled at the base and some nice cone pieces on top. My boyfriend and I both loved it! It was a very unique and different dessert which is definitely worth a try! Cocktails were numerous in choice and very pleasant tooService was amazing, staff made sure everything was up to standard. We were offered complimentary liquor at the end. Price came up to 80 euro total which is fair considering portion sizes and quality of foodA definite must!! Will be back to try one of their signature burgers!!
