This restaurant is slightly hard to find being at the end of Keeron street which is between the popular Long Street and the Company Garden but be sure to make the effort to find it. There is a delightful lounge bar at street level, and tabled restaurant in the basement. Weâd recommend the safari: 5 fillets of game meat, but all the dishes looked excellent. My cognac came in a proper brandy glass over a tumbler of boiling water so the steam had warmed it through. First class food and first class service.

Especially after reading the reviews. We walked down the hill from the Cheviot Place Guest House and then took a right. Pretty soon there was the shop on Main Rd.Hubby had the Chalmar T Bone 500 grams @ 299Rand. He thought it was good, but certainly NOT the best steak he's ever had. I had the Loin Lamb Chops @229Rand. Both came w/sweet potato fries and cole slaw. We had 2 coke zeros. I thought the lamb chops i make at home are better.At 602 R, incl tip......no bargain. Waitstaff just OK. It was a very early Monday evening. The restaurant area was NOT "hoppin".Hi there! We decided to early dinner at Nelson as we were traveling with our baby and were concerned for his sleeping hours.The restaurant is by no means equip for toddlers or babie but the staff went out of their way to make us comfortable.Let's the start with the service - absoluety fabulous! I could not have been more satisfied with the level of professionalism and genuine friendliness. As mentioned we were with a baby and he was getting a bit cranky having had to stay put. The owner ( I think he was the owner) was kind enough to show us the grill in which the grill an gave the baby a "fire show" which kept him entertained.... At some point the owner even took our little punk for greetings round the restaurant while we were able to take more bites of the wonderful food. Honestly I never felt so welcome. And now to the food - superb! Haven't had such a fine steak in ages. The fillet is an absolute MUST as it melts like butter in your mouth, and the rump steak was beautifully done, full of flavors and uumph. The sides too were excellent, we had a baked potato with sour cream and creamed spinach - both were excellent standalone dishes. To cut a long story short - the meat is beyond this world! After dinner the owner/manager also walked us to our car so that we feel safe. We had a great time and hope to be back in Cape Town so we can pop in again.

The name says it all!!! Very good meat and an overall terrific dining experience. Our waiter was terrific and amply handled our very demanding party of 8!. The wine list was first rate and the desserts were delicious. Over experience was terrific. We are glad that our first day in Cape Town was capped off by dining at Carne.

Shows their specials on a board so easy to see on the pavement. Not pushy. Relaxed atmosphere. We had 2 meals here. Best prawn platter ever, had a steak and bottle of wine, both delicious. Manager took time with customer to make sure all was well. All staff were helpful and friendly, not pushy. Definitely worth a visit.

My wife and I had an early supper here on our return to RSA. Once again first class service and food! We shared a fried calamares starter followed by fillet steaks with bernaise and pepper sauces, onion rings, creamed spinach and chips. Everything was delicious. Tucked away in a shopping centre we would not have found this restaurant without TripAdvisor! Conveniently situated within walking distance of our hotel in Sea Point. It's a very large restaurant and when we arrived there were just a few tables occupied but by the time we left the place was abuzz with diners. We had steaks but noticed quite a few diners opted for prawns of fish. Clearly they have a good reputation and their popularity is evident.
