My wife and I had a terrific lunch here. Highlights included the foie gras with carmelized onions on toasted baguette slice, crab burger with tomato and a delicious sauce and a truly outstanding cheese cake. Small restaurant, friendly atmosphere and attentive service. Fun!

I rely on tripadvisor for recommendations.Mendaur Berria was listed as number one in San Sebastian and lived up to its ranking.We did something a San Sebastian resident would never do. We ate all our pinxos at one place. We couldn't see the point in going anywhere else. Nothing could be as good as this!Dishes can be ordered as pinxos size or racion which is bigger and probably meant for a few people. We had a racion size dish of calamari and then pinxos size of 8 other dishes followed by the lemon pie for dessert. We waddled out after paying EUR46.50!Originally we had booked a Michelin starred restaurant but cancelled it. We have been to a number of Michelin star restaurants around the world and have always walked out thinking:'OK but not worth the money'.Mendaur Berria food is beautifully presented and the server described each dish when they brought it to the table.A must visit, worth every cent!Thank you very much for your lovely words, for the visit and the review. We love that you enjoyed your experience in our house. Your opinion is very important to us, because is the way forward. We hope to see you again soon. Best regards.

If you've had your fill of the excellent San Sebastian pinchos and the generally meaty restaurant dishes this is a delightful vegetarian alternative. Nothing flash or showy but a simple setting with a range of well crafted cuisine for lunch or dinner.Hi. Thank you very much for your hands. I would like to clarify that we are not a vegetarian restaurant, but a restaurant with organic ingredients. We have vegetarian dishes, fish, smoked fish and a meat dish.Thanks again.

Very modern and stylish place. The food is a very tasty mixture of spanish tradition and innovation. Their tapas are just great and so cheap. I ate until stuffed and paid 12⬠for the whole thing!

What can you say about a famous cook and a poor service? The food was great, no doubt. Some main courses come in real small, appetizer like sizes (e.g. the delicious Txangurro Donostiara, the See Spider) and other delicious main courses like the Cordero Lechal come without any noteworthy vegetables, just a nano strife of something. Maybe a question of concept? Maybe, but expectations aren't met.We asked the waiter for a solution to the See Spider issue, but the answer was quite abrupt: choose another meal and pay again. Not quite friendly. We needed also to decide upfront for the dessert, because... Generally, the waiter's interest for out table was quite peripheral and definitely not satisfactory.No doubt a great chef with a great talent, but with such service personnel he doesn't need any enemies. Zelai Txiki: keep up with the great cooking talents, but you have space for improvement in service.

An excellent lunch here with great views of the small harbour. We came here for lunch as an alternative to San Sebastion. Definately worth the short trip. Menu was comprehensive (grilled prawns and whole sole thoroughly recommended). The meals dont come with begetables so make sure you add some if tou are looking for a filling meal. All in all a great meal over the water. Thoroughly recomended

Sidrerias (Cider Houses) are a feature of the region and this is one of the top ones. Do not look for any tourists, this place is not in the main circuit. Just locals and hose in the know. A family run place with barrels of cider, wooden communal tables, extraordinary quality at reasonable prices. Your menu must include: Bacalao (either tortilla or in tomato sauce or in season "guindillas and garlic". (small tender peppers only available in the spring) and the Chuleton de Buey (A sort of very tasty T-Bone Steak)... and, of course Sidra.

Arzak is a 3 Michelin star restaurant in San Sebastian. My wife and I love the Michelin star system and eat at many of these restaurants. Arzak is certainly worth its 3 star rating and should perhaps be given four stars. The highlights are:1. The service in impeccable, the family greets every table. This family could rest on their laurels, but they do not. This attention to detail ensures the quality is maintained.2. The food is excellent, in both taste and presentation. Plus they are amenable to customers requests. I have no time for chefs who tell me how meat must be served.3. We had two gluten intolerant people at our table, and they still found the food to be excellent. They were also blown away by the quality.We cannot wait to go back.

This restaurant has it all: ambiance, excellent food, outstanding service, location, and cleanliness. Iâve travelled the world and this was probably the best meal ever. Donât pass this jewel by, if youâre anywhere near. Reservations fill up so reserve ahead. We also say "Wow!" Thank you very much for coming and your kind words!Please, come back whenever you want!
