My husband and I came to Costa Rica for our honeymoon. We visited Z Gastro Bar and Z Poolside Bistro multiple times during our 5 day stay. We cannot say enough great things about Marita (Gastro) and Warner (poolside). They do an outstanding job at making you feel like family. One day we took a fishing trip out of the marina and brought fresh Mahi in. Marita took the Mahi and had a delicious meal prepared for us, without direction! We had delicious ceviche and the Mahi prepared 3 ways. If youâre coming to Costa Rica, this has to be a stop during your stay! We will be back.

We came here for my parentsâ 50th wedding anniversary, wanting to go somewhere a little different for our last night in Manuel Antonio.Everything was thoroughly enjoyable! The atmosphere is fun, feels more like a hipster bar than a raucous family restaurant. Our server Warner was super friendly and engaging, and, when he found out it was my parentsâ anniversary, he kept bringing us gifts throughout the meal.The first thing you notice after you sit down is the menu. Itâs chock full of descriptions and ingredients you wonât see in other restaurants in the area (heart of palm cheese?). All of our plates were delicious; Iâd especially recommend the chilled cucumber soup, the Caribe Atómico hamburger, and the tacos de atún.Theyâve only been in business for a short time, but Iâm hoping they do well by serving up a different experience for visitors to Manuel Antonio. Weâll certainly be back next time weâre in the area.

After looking at the menu of both Gabriella's and the Runaway Grill (Gabriella's is upstairs and Runaway Grill is downstairs in the same building) we opted for Gabriella's for the better seafood and pasta selections. And we were not disappointed.Advised on the food by our excellent waiter Dixon, who gave us great and attentive service, we had the wow-wow shrimp as appetizer (had the right amount of sweetness and spice). For main we had Salmon and Mahi-Mahi which were very delicious, and our kids enjoyed Gabriella's Balls pasta very much. For dessert we got a great fire show to prepare the Bananas Flambé, and it tasted just as good.The location is also nice as you have a beautiful view over the marina, and the Northwestern coast line. Nice and romantic in fact.The place isn't cheap but we felt it was well worth the money. A great place to have a special dinner. Thanks Dixon!

By the end of our trip we were craving something different and we are a family that loves sushi. I probably should have just stopped there. Because my expectations were just too high. The staff was very nice. But the vibe and actually value for money for what my bill was certainly did not meet my expectations. Even the soy sauce tasted as if it had turned. The mango and cucumber salad was great. And the avocado/crispy rice was also great...But the sushi was just ok...it seriously was more expensive than what I pay in LA which just made no sense to me. It wasnât a bad experience but itâs not a place I would go back to again. Thank You for appreciating our staff and we're so glad you thought the mango/cucumber salad and the crispy rice with avocado were "great". We're sorry you couldn't appreciate the fresh sushi. Our guess is that your used to frozen fish, living in LA, and the taste of fresh is foreign to you. And based on your comment, I would assume you didn't look at the menu or the giant board with the prices clearly marked. You may want to study a little bit more before you travel again because had you done a little research you would know there was a double digit increase by the government to business owners, not to mention that we're in the most expensive development in the area. Oh, and having lived in LA, any decent sushi place there is more than double our prices. Maybe you should try some sushi, other than from supermarket...Pura Vida

This restaurant serves top quality food for reasonable prices. The restaurant owner is originally from Italy, so there are some Italian dishes on her menu card...but...the Costa Rician dishes are awesome!We ate yellow tuna, which was the best dish we had in our 17 days journey through the country. Also the deserts were great like apple pie (beautifully plated), cheesecake (really good), salami chocolate cake (wow factor), pannacotta (delicious!). The chardonnay wine (Santa Ema from Chili) was delicious and went well with the tuna.Laat but not least...the coffee was great! True Italian espresso, yes!!We had such a wonderful dinner that we decided to come back the next day. We made this decision already at our first dinner in El Chiringuite, and asked the owner whether she could serve fresh lobster the next day. No problem, she asked her fisherman..and the next evening she served wonderful cooked lobster...delicious with the Santa Ema chardonnay...heaven on earth!For us the best food in Costa Rica!Hi 45moniqued,thanks for leaving us such a wonderful review.
