Saint Paul has been called the last city of the East primarily because early developers built it to fit Eastern standards: city squares or parks, towers and turrets, lofty arches, Baroque domes and elaborate adornments abound. Ideal for families and those who like to explore on foot, the capital of Minnesota offers big city attractions with small town manageability. It's an easy and scenic stroll along the banks of the Mississippi River from the Children's Museum to the Science Museum. The kids (and the young at heart) will love them both. Nearby are the grandiose State Capitol, designed by esteemed architect Cass Gilbert and the historic Como Park, which includes lovely picnic areas, a zoo and a conservatory. Also in the mix are modern museums, stately old mansions, interesting natural wonders and unique shops to browse around. Be sure to check out the stellar collection of contemporary works by local artists at the Minnesota Museum of American Art. From four-star luxury to affordable and family-friendly, Saint Paul offers a variety of lodging and dining possibilities making it a great destination for all tastes and budgets.

Kincaid's Fish, Chop & Steak House

Reviewed By Honestly4933

Kincaid’s was once a top-end business lunch go-to spot in downtown St Paul: varied menu choices and impeccable service. The service is still good, but the food was extremely disappointing. Texture of the fish was all wrong to the point where both of the parties who ordered it ate only a single bite and were too polite to spit it out. Their signature Boston Pea salad seemed like peas that had been quickly thawed in a microwave mixed with Miracle Whip. The recipe used to be peas mixed w bacon bits, mayo and water chestnuts served very cold in an ice cream scoop shaped ball. Now the room temperature peas (with warm Miracle Whip?) were tossed haphazardly onto a plate and rolling about. What happened? Not going back. So sad. First let me apologize for your recent dining experience here at Kincaid's. We strive every day to exceed our guest's expectations in food and service. In your case, we clearly missed the mark and for that I am truly sorry. I have followed up with the Executive Chef in hopes of correcting the issues you have brought to my attention. Our signature dishes, like the Broadway Pea Salad, are made with the same recipe our guest's have come to expect for over two decades. I am sorry to hear you and your guest's did not receive the same high standards. I would appreciate the opportunity to Make It Right by learning more details about your experience. I may be reached at 651-602-9000 or by email at [email protected]. Thank you again. Jerry.

I’m so happy every time we visit Octo Fishbar. The bartenders are always lovely and make great cocktails - also good beer and wine specials. The servers know what they’re talking about and make strong recommendations based on who you are and what you’re looking for. If you aren’t sure, start with oysters (note to self: you always like East coast more than West - just stick with them) and get the pozole (one of us will ALWAYS order it with the other switching up the order to try something new). The scallop in the small plate is also always delicious. You can’t go wrong with Salty Tart’s key lime pie for dessert.

Mac's Fish & Chips

Reviewed By StevenLaVigne

My friend and I ate here before a theater date, and it was really a delicious bargain. The fish was nice and crisp, and the chips were pretty good. I had the Cod, which I rather liked. The cole slaw wasn't bad either. The only problem was the flies that come inside. A little vinegar, sugar and dish soap could easily take care of that problem.
