My husband had never been there and decided to check out their happy hour. The patio was pretty empty for a Friday happy hour. Their happy hour menu has quite a few poke or ceviche options, neither of which sounded appealing to us at the time. We ordered their calamari and a tempura shrimp roll. They were both okay, but nothing special. With these two appetizers and 2 glasses of happy hour wine and 1 happy hour beer the bill was $42. Not the best value for the money. My husband called this visit "a swing and a miss". There are other options in the Walnut Creek area with better seafood happy hour items such as Wences.

No, I'm not giving the Tugboat Fish & Chips restaurant five stars because I think it's a gourmet place. I'm giving it five stars because it's one of the best bargains I've found in a restaurant. The prices are more than reasonable, and the deep-fried food (fish and chips, prawns, calamari, clams, oysters, etc.) is among the best I've found at any price anywhere. The food is fresh, it's tasty, and it's never greasy.The restaurant has been in the same location for some years, starting out very well but then going downhill. Fortunately, new management came in recently and turned it all around. You couldn't ask for more. The dining area is spartan, but it's clean and comfortable, and there's even outdoor seating if you choose. What's more, the people working there are friendly and personable, so all of my visits have been pleasant. My wife and I love it.

Little mom and pop fast casual restaurant hidden in a strip mall on Contra Costa Boulevard. But the food is great, price reasonable, easy parking and fast service. Mom had the white clam chowder and fresh crab on croissant sandwich. Side of chips. She was very happy. The soup was clearly homemade. The crab was fresh and croissant was a buttery bakery croissant. Dad isn't a big seafood fan so he had the BLT "Melt". Large sandwich, warm, gooey delicious. I had the shrimp seafood salad. Generous amount of shrimp.Service was polite and fast. Not super friendly but they were very busy so I can understand that. Cash only but I knew that from checking the reviews before we went.I'd give them 5 stars for a cozier ambiance and better quality serving vessels (don't like Styrofoam bowls) but I will be back because the food was good!

We ordered a couple of appetizers which included octopus and the clam chowder. Both were excellent. Bread served was also very good...toasty crust and soft interior sour dough. However, the entrees were just ok. My wife had a soft shell crab sandwich which was far too small for the bread it accompanied. I ordered the fish and chips and it was good, nothing more. Should have ordered the king salmon. Oh well. Service was fine, nothing special. Would go back.

I live 3,000 miles away, but visit every chance I get when I'm on the west coast. Tucked away in a non-descript Pleasant Hill strip center, this gem always delivers a noteworthy dining experience. Three of us were in for an early weeknight dinner, and enjoyed excellent service and food. Special handicap/mobility needs were graciously accommodated. The owners themselves work the restaurant and ensure every diner enjoys the meal. Not too many restaurants have a menu where I want to try everything on the menu!I enjoyed a specialty cocktail, the crab artichoke soup, shrimp scampi (best I've had anywhere), and shared tiramisu. Everything was delicious and well-prepared. Highly recommended.
