This was a truly horrible experience. Everything was overcooked despite our efforts to try and talk with the chef at the table. It is expensive without any touch of sofistication and you will leave the place with smelly clothes. A tourist trap and nothing else.

Restaurant Meandros

I usually try to balance my reviews with good and bad, but unfortunately this was just resoundingly bad. I guess the decor was ok, but that is about it. First I ordered Garides Saganaki as a starter, that is a dish served in Greece with prawns cooked in a saganaki saucepan with a reduced tomato sauce with sheeps cheese. I am allergic to cucumber and make sure to tell waiting staff wherever I go about this and could tell this was not taken seriously despite the sign at the front advertising their concern for people with allergies. The staters came and they brought a saganaki, a cheese cooked in a saganaki saucepan, on a bed of salad that continaed ..... cucumber! I told them it was wrong and the waiter went off without a word. Everyone else then got their starters, but no bread with which to eat them. Finally I got my starter with the sarcastic comment "the other Saganaki", as if it was my fault they got the order wrong. The dish was ok, but certainly not like you get in Greece and having been advertised as containing peeled prawns I was a bit surprised to find they still had the tails on.Things did not get better from there. Two and a half hours after sitting down, we were starting to get a bit annoyed that we were not getting served our main course. We noticed everyine in the room seemed to be either sending dishes back to the kitchen, or asking where their food was. After chasing for our food, it finally came nearly three hours after arriving. Mine came last and the same waiter who had brought the wrong starter and I had explainied to that I had an allergy to cucumber then thought it funny to say "here is your cucumber salad". To top it off, the dish was not the one I ordered (again) and was inedible with some very odd spices (including anise, which I have never experieinced with lamb before and never want to again). Even the others at the table who tasted my dish said it was inedible. My wife's moussaka was luke warm and my father in law's steak did not seem to have been cooked in a pan, my guess is they were using a microwave to heat pre-prepared food.So all in all it was a terrible experience and I left the restaurant extremely angry and, yes, hungry after three hours. My wife had words with the staff before we left and it would seem they were catering for a large wedding party at the back of the restaurant in a closed off area. Their management should consider this a warning that, should they choose to do this again, they should close the restaurant to concentrate on their wedding because they certainly can't cope with both. Even the free ouzo and desserts they brought on the house were not enough to compensate for our terrible experience.I would recommend avoiding this place like the plague and going to a proper Greek restaurant instead.

We ate dinner twice at this restaurant. The first time the waiter ignored the menus given us and asked whether we wanted meat or fish, and then did not explain the choices for each category. We had reviewed the menu and made our selections, which were excellent (veal and fish). We returned for a second dinner and had an experienced waiter, but apparently he was working the room by himself, including a large group. We were early, and got our orders in before the room filled up, and again the dinners were excellent.

I would have never found this place if I hadn't been invited for a business dinner. The ambience is not very inviting, however, food and service were really good. The grilled baby calamari with herbs were delicious and so was the tuna tartare on red pesto. The only weird thing was the cream cheese on the tartare. The served bread (sourdough bread and pizza bread) were fresh and really good, too. The pizzas on the other tables looked great...Service was very attentive. If I happen to be in Neu-Isenburg again, I will come back.

Alexis Sorbas is certainly not a typical greek restaurant that targets a mass audience by selling mediocre -meat mountains- of Gyros and bifteki with fries, they actually sell great food with a much higher standard as you would expect, also looking at the location, a residential neighbourhood.I can certainly recommend this restaurant and only 2 small facts made me give them 4 in stead of 5 points, the first : it was quite loud , hard to have a conversation during the meal but they did have a large group that evening, and the way they tried to sell their wine , pushing a blend and promoting it big time without giving me the opportunity to have a look in the wine menu (maybe they don't even have one)
