This is one of those areas that tripadvisor suckers you in because this is not really a restaurant. The sell seafood. A lot of seafood. And you can sit down and eat it. And get a glass or two of wine. But if you don't want seafood, then you have come to the wrong place. The basic dish is a seafood platter for two to share: 12 oysters, six langoustine; 6 whelks; a couple of tiny (inedible) crabs; 6 (very poor) mussels; a few cockles; some lemon and aioli sauce. But thats it. You can have other dishes, but they will be just some of the above. And it is all cold.It is a reasonable place for lunch but this is NOT A RESTAURANT.

A nicely placed restaurant with a good view, which of course is not unusual in La Grande-Motte which was built with views in mind. Pleasant service accompanied a very good meal which we could not fault in any way. Every part of the mini parillada was perfect when frequently one fish or the gambas is sadly not up to standard. The Viognier white wine from l’Aude was just right and the cafe gourmand to die for. We look forward to comming back when the weather is more clement!Thankyou very much for your comment. We will see you again with a lot of fun. Our products are always great qualities and we are happy that you enjoyed the meal. See you soon

L'ecailler des Beaux Arts

A group of us were in Montpellier and wanted somewhere to eat. There was a general agreement that seafood would be nice and the hotel found this restaurant for us.It was an excellent choice. The patron was a most helpful and quite amusing fellow and nothing really was too much trouble. He spoke some English too which was a help for some of the group. Eating seafood in France is rather more "hands on" than in the UK so tearing crabs apart was something of a novelty for some of the group and showing them the dead man's fingers a real necessity. The oysters were absolutely excellent. They had about five or six different oysters on sale so there was a real choice. Then came the main courses - well an awful lot of food and some of us had over-ordered.It was not cheap but seafood is quite expensive and you do want it fresh but actually it was worth the money. The restaurant itself was fairly basic with no frills but the food certainly made up for it. In the warmer weather you can sit outside but it was just not quite warm enough the evening we visited.
