Tour guide Costa Rica Guides excellent. Food at main restaurant is over cooked and not fresh. Breakfast and lunch are okay, avoid for dinner. However Arenal Kiota is a gem! What is odd is that this restaurant is part of hotel where the food is fresh and well done. The view is fantastic! So if this restaurant can provide excellent service and food, then why can't the main restaurant? In addition, the front desk staff are not very helpful. Only one of the team seems to know what is going on. The hotel itself is in a great location for seeing the volcano, when it is not covered by clouds, but is very dated. Arenal area is very "toutisty" and so I do not think they really care because another bus load of tourists will arrive to replace you. So buyer be aware!

They donât have anything saying that they donât take credit cards but they told us that the machine was down. We had cash because I looked at reviews beforehand but Iâm not sure if the machine is really down. We ordered beef and chicken empanadas. They were ok but a little greasy. The jalapeño pork is actually steak but was still good. I ordered the steak burrito which came with fries. Service is a little slow and the mixed drinks were just okay.

I came here for some appetizers and beer. Cool spot with a full bar and TVs. The prices are reasonable and include the tax which is a plus. Wasnât crazy about the nachos but the ceviche was good. Beer is about $3 a pop. We really enjoyed our dinner dining experience and decided to return the next morning for breakfast. Both meals were fresh, delicious and very reasonably priced. The presentation was first class. The service was excellent and praise goes to Rodrigo Kepfer who took care of our every need. He truly made our dining experience extra special. The waiters were extremely polite and spoke English fluently. The food was incredible but and they were able to accommodate my food needs. The price was reasonable for a family of 3 as well as having friendly inviting feel. They asked what we would want to watch on the TVs as well as recommending local adventures and spots.

Off the beaten path but simply amazing food. We had ceviche for an appetizer which was awesome. Surf and turf and steamed tilapia were the entrees and they were simply perfect. Steamed tilapia came with vegetables and shrimp. Too much food for one person to eat - I would share an entree next time. Thank you so much for such an amazing review for Restaurante Nenes!

Wen we discovered that our guide to Tortuguera lives in La Fortuna, we asked him for restaurant recommendations. He gave us two for dinner, Rancho Perla and Nene. Obviously we picked Rancho Perla and we could not have been happier. Our guide told us that the chef/owner at Ranch Perla had worked in town for many years when he decided to open his own place. The restaurant is a little bit outside of town and down a simple dirt road. I have to admit that when we first approached I was wondering what we had gotten ourselves into. Tropical plants obscure a building with sweeping roofs but an open air dining room. We had made a reservation but hardly anyone was there when we first arrived. It turns out we just eat early. As soon as we were seated we were greeted by our waiter who went over the menu. My wife and a friend ordered the Chateaubriand for two. They rated it the best they had ever had....and it was only $50.00. The other three in our group also rated the dinners exceptional noting again the moderate price for superior food. Add in the ambiance and service and you have a winner.

After five days of rain I felt somehow frustrated, all travel equipment was moist. I was so happy to find this restaurant with excellent food. I had pasta arrabiata and a pizza. After the authentic italian food I felt so much better. I also liked the lemonade with mint, the good wifi connection and the super friendly service. My friend and I were told by our hostel reception that this was a very good place for Seafood and she was right! The service, food and presentation was amazing. The portions were big and price was reasonable. Would highly recommend this restaurant if you like seafood. If you like Plantain, I recommend you order the Pantacones. Our family really enjoyed the delicious, non-alcoholic drinks and the fresh, flavorful food served at La Caribena. The incorporation of coconut milk, delicious seafood, and some Caribbean spice was a nice change of pace during our travels. Frank and Geovani were very friendly and provided great service. Despite being near the highway, this was a family-friendly dining experience that allowed us to relax to reggae music and refuel after a day of adventure.Thank for visiting us.
