Pizza had been sitting on the buffett for some time and was old. Salad was so-so. Nothing really fresh. Canned everything except for old cabbage and carrots on salad bar. Coffee was burnt and old. Seems like the employees were just high school kids that the owner can hire cheap. They really did not care if the pizza tasted like cardboard. Too bad because the location at gala is awesome.

I am prejudiced since this is literally 90 seconds walk from my house. And I have been going every Friday night for the last three months. Great pizza and Italian menu and very friendly. It is small, so reservations are encouraged. The portions are enough that sharing is encouraged.

This pizzeria is probably the best eating option if you're visiting the nearby pottery village. Highlights include island vegetables pizza and the Gorgonzola and honey pizza, to which I'd add the black sugar banana smoothie we shared as a dessert. The restaurant is child friendly but then the main seating area shares a space with an expensive gift shop for the adjacent pottery, so you might want to opt for the upstairs tables if you're nervous or your little bull is hard to control.

Maruki's is set off of the main road, on a hill overlooking the East China Sea. The Chefs, Tomomi and "Bob"(as he's affectionately called) cook up the best Italian pasta dishes, soups, deserts, and brick oven pizza I have ever had. The setting is very laid back and comfortable. After a long day at the beach or exploring the island, we love coming back to our favorite restaurant! The beer's served cold and the pizza is hot! I highly recommend whatever special pasta Bob is serving that day, as his hand made noodles and authentic Italian sauces have never disappointed. I will be coming back to Maruki's as often as I can!
