Near Bergen Harbor, but much far away from the touristic buzz, this new nordic cousine bar takes us to an unique cozy and hearty ambiance. Great pure flavors, astounding cooking technique and warm reception. Highly recomended

Billed as Bergenâs oldest fish restaurant, the Unicorn is smack in the centre of the famous Bryggen, in a charmingly 'wonky' building. The décor is appealingly old world. Lace curtains on windows looking out over the water, give a sense of this seafront in its heyday. The food is traditional and appetising. We had Baccalao and Salmon with Herb Crust and Sour Cream. The servers were pleasant and there was an unhurried, old fashioned feel to the place. It's pricey, but that's probably typical along this famous seafront.

This restaurant is easily accessible in the harbor in Bergen. We were late in the tourist season so we were able to get a table without a reservation. The menu had an English translation. The food was typical Norwegian fare with a lot of variety from fish to meat and was moderately priced. The service was very good and the atmosphere was quite cozy. We ate here at a recommendation from a friend and were delighted both with the food and the ambiance.

My partner and I travelled across Norway for a week and this was by far our best meal out. The food was fantastic and the drinks just as good. The service was excellent and recommended certain dishes and explained how different dishes were cooked (spoiler alert - the slow cooked steak is amazing).I have read other reviews say the portions aren't that big - I actually disagree. I believe the portion sizes are perfect, I left fulfilled but not too full. I had the steak and brownie for dessert. The Jamaican Pornstar cocktail is inspiring. This restaurant is a bit away from downtown. A small restaurant with a cozy atmosphere. We were here with a group of friends and we were given a set meny, a three course with drinks included.The starters with three different portions, the main course veal and three different portions of dessert were just great. The combinations of fruits vegetables and meat/fish was fantastic and tasted delicious. The veal is a speciality and tasted just fantastic. Can just recommend the food here. A three course set menu with wine package costs 120 euros per person. The service was also fabulous. The restaurant has clean toilet. Just find your way here and enjoy the food!

We made reservations at this restaurants some weeks before our arrival, in view of its reputation for fine food. Fortunate that we did, because the place was packed when we arrived. It is not a very formal place, although it is elegant in its simplicity. The food was outstanding: small plates, delicately prepared and skillfully presented, from very fresh ingredients, mostly local. Our waiter, a young man, was a bit too funny for his own good, but he was effective, helpful and efficient. The wine list (by the glass) is modest in size, but the wines were of good quality and enjoyable. There is a much more extensive wine list by the bottle. We liked the pairings. Since there are other Colonialens in the central are of Bergen, make sure you look for Colonialen 44.

We were in Bergen on holiday and coincidentally it was our wedding anniversary, after a bit of research we decided to eat at Bare. It was exceptionally good, great food, faultless service and great atmosphere. My wife is vegetarian and the dishes they prepared for her were both delicious and visually matched mine, very clever. The wine flight was a perfect accompaniment.Highly recommend this place.Thank you very much for the nice feed-back.Wish you welcome back next time you are in Bergen

We tried the 5 course menu. You must reserve the table few days before. It is usually full and no walk in available. The environment, food and services are all excellent. The standard is comparable with Michelin 2 stars from our opinion. This restaurant is an enchantment for the eyes and taste. Its boat access from Bergen adds an enchanting touch to this seafood expérience. Rarely welcomed so warmly, we are accompanied by the staff of extreme friendliness throughout this experience. The dishes we tasted were explained in detail. They are of a very high gastronomic quality. As a French we were pleasently surprised by the quality of the wines served. Rare thing in France, we had a guided tour of the restaurant's cellar, a wonder ! Everything is perfect in this restaurant so much that we did not want to leave !
