Delicious! Both my friend and I got chicken dishes, paired with green veggies, option of potatoes or rice and a side salad. The chicken was juicy and moist. Accompanied with salsas. Very good and filling for $110 pesos. Definitely recommend for a healthy and filling meal. The chef and waitress were super friendly and both explained the meal of the day. Pleasantly surprised! And full!!

This place was well reviewed here on TripAdvisor, and we had vegetarians among our group, so it was a logical choice. We were, nonetheless, deeply impressed--the owner/chef was our waitress, and she was impressively knowledgeable and informed. She knew every detail of the traditions of food in her state, and was very generous with her knowledge.Beyond the knowledge was the food. We tried 6 different dishes, and were deeply impressed with each one. The mole negro and the mole verde were both unique and tasty. The two chiles rellenos that we tried (requeson with orange sauce, chipotles with beans and ants) were both unique and fascinating. The sopa de guia (squash vine soup) was an entirely new experience for us. The atole de amaranto was great. In sum, this place is a place to come and try several things on the menu. Come in a group that is willing to trade plates around so that you try lots of things.

If you can sit upstairs on the deck, the ambience is nice. Downstairs, its nothing special. The food was good but nothing to shout ablout. Its a nice touch that the waiter makes fresh salsa and guacamole at your table.

Great little find with lovely friendly staff. The menu is small and each dish tastes amazing. All about the quality of the menu here rather than the quantity which is always a good sign. The three course set lunch menu for less than 100 Pesos is top value, and clearly the chef knows what he is doing with great flavour combinations. Lovely courtyard to sit in too.

We arrived here on hotel recommendation. Perhaps we arrived on an off night, yet there were limited food choices on the menu. I am vegetarian, and trip advisor had this restaurant listed as vegan and vegetarian. We could not find much on the menu. One other side note, the area in which they sat us had a distinct smell of animal hide/leather. Not a good place for a vegetarian.

Time wise, it didn't work out for us to go for dinner or lunch, but we stopped in for an appetizer and drinks and I can't wait to go back for a full meal! The design and decor is just beautiful, actually a bit magical, and the food was superb! We ordered one of the shrimp appetizers from their lounge menu and it was more than enough for two. The shrimp were tender and mixed with some vegetables and cheese inside crisp blue corn tortillas.Just delicious! My husband tried one of the Mezcals, a bit smokey and quite tasty, but a bit much for him. I had a wonderful Mezcal cocktail which contained some sort of crushed green plant and rose water. It was light and refreshing but definitely had a kick to it. This is one of the most popular restaurants in town, so a reservation is recommended, at least a day in advance. Our waiter spoke fluent English, so that was helpful and they do take credit cards. The entrance is on a pedestrian only street and a bit hard to find but totally worth the effort. You won't be disappointed!

Upon arriving back in Oaxaca, I was eager to get some Oaxaqueña food. This place is located right near the Santo Domingo church. It looked popular with the locals earlier in the day, so I went in and ordered the Clásica with cecino. Wow! Delicious. Amazing how a few humble ingredients can just come together like that. Also the salsas are great!
