It starts when you walk in the door: There is just a super fun vibe. Great setting. Tall ceilings, which adds to the noise, but hey, it's a party. Interesting drink choices, including specially-flavored margaritas and mojitos. Fortunately, the bar tender knows that when you want a drink, you'd like some alcohol in it! Lots of sipping tequilas and cervesas. We started with their housemade guacamole, which was great, accompanied by totopos, which are a nice change from tortilla chips. Speaking of tortilla soup, which was delicious. What's nice is that the menu is based on small plates, so you can have lots of different samples. My wife and I tried the cerdo (pork and pineapple) and found it a bit salty. I also had the tuna taco which was wonderful: Fresh and bright with a little crema on top. Our son, who is dairy allergic, had La Cerentia (shrimp with a mango, jicama slaw, a Vegetarian Taco, featuring nopales, and El Jefe (SPICY chorizo) Although we mentioned his dairy allergy, one of them had crema on top. When we pointed this out to them, they were very apologetic and fixed it pronto, Our server was warm and friendly. Definitely worth a visit.

I tried this restaurant with friends and family after seeing it on Trip Advisor and on a recent visit to the city. Bad Choice. The service was horrible. We were served piecemeal. Two entrees came out, then five minuets later another one, then five minutes later two more. Wrong order but I was so hungry by then I didn't care. We had to flag down the waitress who disappeared after we ordered (NOT CROWED OR BUSY) to ask about the last order, She had no idea what was missing. When we asked if the fish tacos were the cod as ordered, the waiter said, "Whatever" Food was awful. Looked like frozen meals. The floor was dirty, tables left uncleaned, and only one filthy bathroom for the entire restaurant. We were told we could go to the pavilions on the boardwalk if we didn't want to wait for the single bathroom. Liquor overpriced. I think they waved the vodka over the soda, warm rose wine, and warm beer. A VERY EXPENSIVE MISTAKE!! Any positive reviews have to be done by people who own the place.Gene,Thank you for taking the time to send your review. I apologize for it taking some time to get back to you. I would love the opportunity to discuss this more privately. My name is Jen I am a manager at Pop's ad if you were able to reach out at [email protected] I would like to gather some more details and bring some resolve. We will certainly use this feedback as a tool to not repeat this again. Thank You Jen Daly

We ate on the patio, which is dog friendly, and really enjoyed the atmosphere and the view of the beach. Food was good, even though it was slightly different than the Mexican food to which we are accustomed. A little bit more expensive than typical of a Mexican restaurant, but not exorbitant. I guess the ambiance is worth the difference!!Rene, Thank you for your review of Pop's. We are animal lovers and enjoy our animal guests equally. We are committed to sustainable and most healthy product available but work on keeping or costs as guest friendly as possible, as we believe everyone deserves a Vacation Day!!

It was 2pm on a Sunday, this place was almost full. The exterior does not do justice to what's inside. Huge portions, lots of people having birthday parties, large groups, regulars at the bar. Soccer on tv. The food was dynomite. She got a burrito beef and all the fixings. I got a 23$ meat mix in a smoking hot stone bowl. The waitress asked do I like spicy? I said yes. This thing came out smoking and sizzling! It was delicious. I was also sweating due to the spice. The beers kept coming the chips kept coming. Loved it can't wait to go back. The price was great, very reasonable for the portions.

We ate here on a Saturday night after a friend suggested it based on reviews she had read. We were not disappointed. The food and drinks are excellent. We got a bunch of appetizers: the yucca - fried to perfection and served with chimichurri aioli and cabbage slaw, the Barrio nachos, and the plátanos. All were excellent and I’d get them all again. My entree, the pollo tacos were also excellent and had just the right amount of spicy ness to it. And if you like passion fruit, the Paradise City cocktail is amazing... refreshing and sweet, but not too sweet. The portion sizes are perfect... not to big, not too small, so that you can try a lot of different things. The menu is modern and innovative. The food is high quality and made to order...nothing frozen here. If you are a foodie, you will appreciate the freshness and authenticity of ingredients, and the perfect blend of spices, along with an upscale, gourmet & flavor presentation. The service is excellent. At one point, the owner or manager cabe to the table and asked his things were going and if we were celebrating a special occasion. I told him my birthday was coming up. A few minutes later, he returned with a card with 2 complimentary drink vouchers inside. How nice is that?! The space is also lively, especially if you sit toward the back. And the bathroom is especially lovely... yes, I said bathroom. It is super cool and funky, very red, and plastered with various pictures, collages, photos, and magazine images of everything Mexican... from Frida Kahlo, wrestling masks, magazine ads, movie stills, and dia de muerto skulls. Come here for the drinks and atmosphere, stay for the food. The only downside... trying to find parking close by is a real challenge, especially in the summer months. All in all, I would return, even with the hassle of trying to find parking.
