Things to do in Sant'Agata de' Goti
Set in the historic corner of a cute little town, the restaurant offers food that titillates your taste buds, leaves you satisfied yet light on your feet even after eating a full course meal.
Finestra Catalana is literally what its name would suggest: a window ... but not on Catalonia, as the name would suggest ... it is a window on the real Italy.Finestra Catalana is the themed, recent reincarnation of its predecessor Bistro Miro.It is located atop the parapet of the medieval citadel city of SantâAgata di Goti.If you want to see how unobserved Italians enjoy a protracted estival evening, you can catch them unawares at the Finestra Catalana. If the diminutive SantâAgata were Manhattan, then Finestra Catalana, located at the southern extreme, would be its Battery Park.On the terrace of the Finestra, the vagaries of competing cool evening breezesâthe Mistral, the Levante, the Tramonte or the Ponenteâwill refresh you regardless of which wind prevails. The confluence of musicâsome variant of jazz, Brazilian samba, Italian folk, or classical guitarâcolorful icy cocktails, sparking mineral water, cold vino bianco, moonlight peering over the surrounding hills, local tapas, distant lights twinkling from country villas, a panoramic view of Valle di Maddaloni, and the gentile gaiety of SantâAgata friendlies and families will soon have you forgetting who you are and where you came from. You may find yourself speaking an Italian dialect as if you remember it from a past life. The word vacation derives from vacate; so a true vacation is when you vacate yourself and your mundane life; it is respite from the intrusive verities and necessities of modern life.Finestra Catalana, indeed SantâAgata di Goti, is an enchanting niche âfar from the madding crowdâ yet only a short ride from the vibrant cityâokay, chaoticâcity of Naples. From 1973 until 1976, I lived in SantâAgata di Goti; you might imagine my relief when I discovered that nothing thereâhyperbole asideâhas changed. It has been preserved and maintainedâone dab of plaster, one tufa brick, one doorway at a timeâunlike the rest of us, SantâAgata has managed to side-step time.As a hack travel writer might observe, âSantâAgata is forty kilometers or four hundred years from Napoli.âYet it is not without its amenities: air conditioned bed and breakfasts, excellent, budget-sensitive restaurants (Antico Borgo) and of course the relaxing Finestra Catalana (families might enjoy the park right next door)
At the entrance to the historic center of one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, Sant'Agata de 'Goti, lies the AGAPE Restaurant: the goal of a journey that began several years ago. In a location of excellence, Palazzo Viscardi, Chef Piscitelli Gabri
Best meal in Italy, one of the best ever. Service was impeccable between the waitress and the sommelier could not fault anything. Chef really knows what he wants to say on the plate amazing and great flavour combinations

This little restaurant turned out to be a lovely surprise in the pretty town. We had lunch there twice and sat at outside tables under the wisteria on both occasions. A quiet spot overlooking the square. The grilled salmon, bruschetta, salads and grilled veggies were all top quality: great genuine Italian flavours, the service friendly and attentive and the bill modest! Would certainly go there again!

Fine dining with indoor and alfresco option. Everything seems to be made on premise with the antipasti being of high quality local sources arranged in a way that complements each flavour (prosciutto, salami and selections of cheese depending on the meal). The professional staff are incredibly well informed, sensitive to detail and very accommodating. We arrived just after a group of 20 (our bad luck) and so endured a longer than normal wait and some unpleasant noise - yet the staff took excellent care us and ensured our meal was enjoyable. However, the centre management keeps things to a tight pool of staff and dining space on a normal day and you may find that less professional enigmas pop up. Call ahead.

We called in here by chance one evening, as the restaurant we intended to dine at was closed. Glad we found it. Charming atmosphere, friendly and efficient staff - especially one young waiter, who translated the Italian menu for us into English, and looked after us very well. There were other couples, groups and families with children there - all were made equally welcome. The food was beautifully presented, excellently prepared and cooked, and tasted amazing. We had main meals of mussels, pizza (huge!), aubergine parmesan, local spaghetti dish, and penne with salmon. The penne dish was quite simply the best pasta dish I have ever tasted in my life - how they achieved it I don't know, but will be eternally grateful for their culinary expertise! I was rendered speechless by the flavour and texture. The desserts are also heavenly. If you come to St Agata, don't leave before you have eaten here.

We spontaneously decided to have dinner here on a Friday evening as we are staying very close by. When we arrived we were warmly greeted by Giovanni, who even offered us a tour of the recently renovated premises! Despite the language barrier, the tour was very interesting! We were delighted to be offered a delicious antipasti plate containing home cured meats, vegetables and bread all served with a delicious fresh olive oil. Following this, we tried the pasta in tomato and lamb sauce which was spectacular. After the pasta course we were very full but were persuaded to try the chicken dish (although we only managed one dish between two) and a lovely fresh side salad. All this was washed down by a litre of red wine. Molto bene! And we were pleasantly surprised by the bill at the end. A huge meal for two with wine for â¬52.All in all our experience was quite perfect and we would not hesitate to recommend this eatery to other travellers!

Where to eat Italian food in Sant'Agata de' Goti: The Best Restaurants and Bars

On the hills of Sant'Agata de 'Goti , at the foot of Monte Taburno , is the ' Farm Buro , a structure surrounded by green gardens from where you can admire the historic center of Sant'Agata de 'Goti . L ' Agriturismo is composed of two large dining rooms
We decided to come here for lunch because of its good reviews. And we are not disappointed. The area was covered in lush green grass, fruit bearing trees, flowers and a great panoramic view. There are swings and benches by the garden area, also a miniature soccer field ideal for kids to hang out and play. We didn't see other animals beside 3 ponies that small children could ride on. Coming in without any reservations we already imagined that we wouldn't get any table outside, so we settled inside. The place was full and the service was well organized. We didn't hear or see anyone having a long wait. The food was very good. Being a little bit picky eaters, they were able to do adjustments and satisfy our palates. They were very cordial and kind about it. Apertizers were great! probably the one i enjoyed best. Typical Italian cheeses, veggies and cold cuts (I personally don't eat ham and its kind so we asked them not to include it in the plate.) First plate was also typical of the are, Ravioli with apples (mele annurca). Pretty sure there was some ham mixed in the ricotta filling. But probably the waiter really doesn't know. Because when we asked he just said straight on that it was only apples. So moving on to second plate. My fiance had a trio of grilled meat. So if you're undecided of which you want to get. Why not taste all three?! The quality of the meat was excellent. For dessert we had babà a typical pastry of Naples and a fig tart with wallnuts. Both were scrumpscious! With it they brought out some fresh cherries (it's cherries season now) and wild fenel liquor. Everything was their own production and of high quality. All in all a great experience. Highly recommended.
