For years Federico Valicenti was a lone voice in Basilicata â there were no ristoranti or trattorias of note within the region. In communicating his love of good food he also appears largely responsible for encouraging the development of his town, Terranova di Pollino - he is a big man (in many senses). Today locals and visitors alike flock to Luna Rossa, but while the final bill is still a pleasant surprise for the sheer quantity of food offered, we would suggest his hold on the tiller is now a little light. When we visited in late September the set Sunday lunch, while offering some excellent dishes, was uneven. Instinct would suggest a rating of three stars appropriate, but considering more than a hundred were served lunch the day we visited and the sheer enthusiasm of the man for all things culinary, perhaps four stars would be fairer.

Friendly welcome from the charming (and English speaking) waiter, we had two outstanding fresh pasta dishes; one made with fresh porcini mushrooms, the other with a sweeter cheese and the Ethiopean aubergines (small, red, slightly bitter) which are unique to this area of Italy. Well worth seeking out.

The restaurant is handled by agrichef with thirty years of experience in the sector. The kitchen is typical but with some revisions. The chef cures the product very much, cultivating themselves all. The restaurant is located in open countryside with small
We stayed here for a night with the intention of also enjoying a typically local meal after a days white water rafting and we were not disappointed. The restaurant was quiet on the evening we ate and we ended up sitting with a couple who we had a great day rafting with earlier and had mentioned the idea of Agriturismo meals which appealed to them and they joined us.So the pressure was on for the meal to be good and it most certainly achieved this.We had antipasti to start which was fabulous but in truth we had ordered too much due to our mutual lack of Italian.I then had a delicious pasta and my wife and our two companions had an absolutely superb risotto served with truffle, which was left at the table for you to grate over your meal. They all raved about this dish and my pasta was splendid too.We then had a carne course, which was terrific too before sending up the white flag as we were all stuffed and could not eat dessert.I do not recall the price but it was very reasonable and the food just terrific. I would definitely recommend to anyone in the area.ci fa molto piacere che vi siate trovati bene con noi e speriamo di rivederci presto

I went with my family in there. The place is simple but really really beautiful. The food is spectacular. Just the entre was almost the lunch. We eat the meet that is prepare really Good. And then in the end they put 6 tips os licor made in there one better then the other.

Excellent local food cooked at its best. Amazing staff, friendly people and very good value. It was my best restaurant in my trip in Basilicata. Bravo!

The green of the woods Magnano is the setting for a sublime cuisine and impeccable service.

Prezzi giusti
