Best Mediterranean food near Marbella, Province of Malaga, Spain

Find out what Mediterranean restaurants to try in Marbella. In the chic, sun-drenched Costa del Sol town of Marbella, hints of its former Moorish occupation mingle with modern-day resort amenities. Bask on the sands of famous La Fontanilla beach or ricochet among the area's family-oriented water, wildlife and theme parks. Experience the Andalusian charm of the historic quarter, filled with whitewashed buildings, remnants of a ninth-century Arab fortress and fragrant orange trees. End a relaxing day with a dish of the cold almond soup ajoblanco and some of the region's excellent dessert wine.

Booked this well in advance and requested a balcony table which we got. The balcony is very small only has 3 x 2 seater tables but it’s very nice to look down to the orange square. There’s only really one of the tables where both of you can see the full square, but I’d try to book this if you can. Inside the restaurant is very dark and traditional.Food was lovely, garlic prawns could do with being a bit more spicy or more garlic maybe, lamb was lovely. My husband has the special starter which he loved, but the duck he thought was too sweet. Wine was very good, a white Rioja!

We walked past this place and it looked so good we stopped for more. In a city of meat, we found a couple of veggie options on the menu and were delighted! Scrumptious! Lovely atmosphere too, in a quiet but beautiful little street. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended!!

Very high ratings on Trip Advisor are totally deserved. We had an unusual request....birthday lunch for 16. We ordered a birthday cake and flowers as well as the usual stuff.Joy (who communicated with us to plan details by email) was excellent - both responsive and flexible on menu. So that was ahead of actual visit.Visit itself was excellent - the wait staff were friendly and efficient, the chef? (Dutch gentleman) was very friendly also. And the food was very good - particularly the starters ....beef carpaccio and goats cheese salad were both top notch. Finally the atmosphere is nice also with inside and outside spaces (outside under shade).A really good experience overall. Would highly recommend for special events but also we’d recommend visit for a more ‘standard’ type lunch or dinner. Food and service I’m sure would be same high quality.First of all many thanks for choosing Cascada Cocina & Bar to celebrate this very special occasion. Great to hear that you have had such a great time and that you enjoyed the setting as well as the service and the food so much. Reviews like this are very rewarding and motivate us to keep going. We hope we can be a witness of many more birthdays to come for your lovely mum! We cannot wait to welcoming you back again.

Went here for a meal as it had been suggested to us.We were given a table by the door but there was an overpowering smell of drains. We ordered a drink but the smell made my husband feel sick, so we had to leave.I hope they can get it sorted as it would have been impossible to eat with that smell....!Hi. Please could you tell me when you came to us? We don’t remember that happening. If you could please confirm it was our restaurant in la campaña as some people mistake us for a restaurant in puerto banus with a similar name, that does have a drainage problem

My principle incentive to dine at the Playwright was that the very talented Joffrey Charles is now the head chef there and I admire his flavoursome originality, and beautiful culinary presentations very much. Notwithstanding that, the dining room is also a pleasant place to be, with all the staff having been well schooled by Maitra ‘D Lynn, and with the promise of entertainment by a vocalist later, we settle in and peruse the manageable menu. (a tad more light would have been helpful)Our choice for mains was: Galician Fillet Steak and Mash with a pepper Sauce - a Wok fried Tempura Lemon Sole with Vegetable accompanied by a chilli, Lime and Ginger Butter Sauce – a buttered crusted Rack of Lamb with a Red Wine and Rosemary Jus. – Pan Fried Lambs Liver with caramelized Onion, Crispy Bacon and Mash.- A selection of al dente vegetables that should have been served warmer than they were. The Pinot Grigio worked well for the three carnivores. We preceded the mains by an amusing appetiser of Liver Pate disguised as a Plum complete with stalk and leaves, with Berries and toast that was warm, unlike the plates that the mains were served on!, To finish we shared a Sherry Trifle. Not only was the whole meal of the highest culinary standards but in taste and texture was a melody of flavours that few achieve. Unlike the vocalist who turned up the amplifier reverberation to such an extent that none of the lyrics were discernible, and this just became an aggravating noise that we hastened to depart from! The V.S.The easiest way to find Playwright when approaching from Marbella is to exit N340 at the Don Carlos exit, go over the bridge to the north side), go round the round-about until you take the slip road to re-join the N340 but immediately fork right (do not go back on to the N340) - the restaurant is half a Km on the right. They open for Dinner only 6 days a week with Tuesday being their day of rest. Average 3 course meal with wine £60. Street parking in service road outside the restaurant. In a previous review I think it is clear this is my favourite restaurant on the Costa Del Sol. I do not usually give multiple reviews however Hermosa's once again delivered such high quality I simply had to. Front the moment I landed multiple people has asked me if I had been and if I had tasted the ribs. I was too excited to wait so made my way down the second night I was in the area. Wow was that a good choice. The ribs are without doubt the best small morsels of meat that I have ever tasted. So tender and so flavoursome. They are even part of the Red menu which you can get 2 or 3 amazing courses for 20 or so Euro incredible value. For main I decided to switch it up as the meat here is the best I have ever had so I wanted to try the fish. I am not a big fish fan so but like to try it in places where it's is fresh and done properly. Wow was a happy with my decision. The sea bass I can literally taste now as I am writing this. Two lovely fillets of absolute devine succulence. My partner had the Indian cottage pie which she has had before and it was as good as ever. Another dish many people I know rave about. My mum and dad also took friends here before we came out and they too are still raving about this place. It really is an absolute must. The Frank ReviewThank you so much for taking the time to leave your lovely review. We are glad you enjoyed your food. Thanks for all the family support, it’s much appreciated.

Let’s not beat around the bush; this is a spit and sawdust place with no frills in a barrio located to the north of Marbella . It’s a pleasant stroll from the old town that will certainly sharpen your appetite. Probably not where you would expect to eat on your holiday to Marbella (effectively in a council estate with a vista of washing lines complete with freshly laundered knickers, vests and bras). But don’t let this put you off. If you’re looking a really good crispy based pizza, with a few cold beers, that’s as cheap as chips - you really can’t go wrong. Take a walk up the hill and give it a try.You won’t regret it!

Gioia Plant Based Cuisine

Gioia is a fully plant-based (vegan) restaurant in Marbella. Our food is mainly organic, gluten-free and we offer many raw food dishes as well as delicious sweet treats. Fresh juices and smoothies.

Poor service from cold and aloof waitress, no smile simply said "ready?" Food is very over priced for what it is - especially the raw dishes which are the first 3 on the mains section. Location is on a busy road with car horns being a problem here. Not a pleasant atmosphere. The only thing stopping me giving a poor review is that it is entirely plant based.Waitress also kept sneezing loudly which was also off putting. If you want plant based food go to Manuka, you will not be disappointed and it is on Beach front too.Hi there!I'm really sorry to hear that the service wasn't up to standard during your visit. Unfortunately our waitress (who normally gets beautiful reviews) had a bad flare-up of seasonal allergy - causing low energy and sneezing - that day. Again, our sincerest apologies that this disrupted your meal.In regards to the traffic noise there is unfortunately not much we can do about that. Regarding the pricing we'll have to agree to disagree on that one. We carefully select the best quality and organic ingredients we can find and all food is made in house which is reflected in the prices. The raw dishes we have are very popular with our customers but of course everyone has different preferences. Fantastic to hear that you've found a restaurant better suiting your taste and perhaps Manuka appreciates that you use your reviews of other restaurants to spread the word. Thanks for supporting the plant-based concept!Kindly,Patricia
