We are frequent visitors to Madeira but this was our first visit to Mad Market so wish we'd found it earlier. The waiting staff are excellent friendly without being intrusive also helpful fetching wines to the table which they feel will compliment your meal & the choice for us was spot on. The food was delicious we were disappointed that we just couldn't manage a dessert but we will return & intend to 'pace ourselves' on our next visit.Thank you for taking some time to share your opinion about MadMarket and for giving us such a wonderful âï¸âï¸âï¸âï¸âï¸ review! Our concept is slightly different from the regular restaurant locations, with a different, more relaxed approach, with different environments: restaurant, snacks, cellar, fruit shop, market and typical products from Madeira. 4th time this year we have visited.Staying in hotel over the road but prefer a quiet intimate meal.The food is tasty ,well cooked and great value,a simple menu so you know stuff is cooked fresh .Staff are welcoming and attentive.Tables outside in gazebo when weather is warm but it is heated outdoors too.Even in winter it is mild enough to eat outside if you're from u.k .Will return next time we are over on holiday .Dear guest and member of Tripadvisor, we like to thank you for your kind words and to let you know that you will be always welcomed at our restaurant Dona Nina

From the moment you arrive the staff are warm and welcoming ... Every table was full but we still receieved very attentive service all evening.Starters were tiger Prawns then followed Beef Wellington all superb with the Beef medium rare as ordered ...White and red were topped up throughout the meal as per the concept inclusive menu!Desserts were a delight to look at and eat ... Located high up on a hillside with great views across the sea to Funchal. Restaurant is clearly used mainly by the local population rather than just tourists.Excellent quality and good value fillet steak kebabsFriendly service. The only issue we had is that when it went dark their lights are very bright which as well as affecting the atmosphere also loses the views over the bay as the main thing that you see in the window is your own reflection.Also had a large TV on (with sound off) which again damages the restaurant atmosphere

Excellent light lunch today, thanks to suggestion and good reviews on TA. We stopped at this small restaurant on a lovely warm & sunny day. Selected 2 tapas dishes to share. Sardines crostini & stuffed peppers. Both delicious. Washed down with a beer. Highly recommended

As others stated before me, the location is excellent : high on a cliff overviewing a quasi private bay, directly at the cliff edge. Perfect in nice weather. The food isn't bad but to be honest, I would not recommend any of the starters but the main courses are good to very good. We have been several times to this restaurant and only once were we disappointed in the quality of the main course (a T-Bone steak that could rival with an old shoe...). The wines and the service are exceptionally good. But you need time : waiting (with a glass of bubbles that is being offered) until the order is taken, waiting before the food is served, waiting until you get billed. But in that beautiful spot, who cares?

I had a recommendation so went for lunch. We sat outside in the courtyard, which was very pleasant... tables were spread out well, not so close to other tables. Good choices on the menu, but even with all the choice I decided to have the Scabbard fish again in Madeira, but this time with an almond crust. A starter of bruschetta was very good. The fish was delicious, it could have been slightly dry on its own, but came with a good bowl of sauce, along with potatoes and salad. The Polvo was gorgeous, I almost wish I'd chosen that, but I can have next time! We finished with a passion fruit Panna Cotta which was delicious. With a half bottle of Casal Garcia it was a really lovely lunch for a very reasonable price. Thank you, will come here again sometime.

Visited here on reading rave reviews on trip advisor and disappointed with the lack of decent fish restaurants in Funchal.We arranged with our hotel to make the reservation and book the minibus which arrived on time with little fuss.On arriving at the restaurant we were shown to our table but we could have sat anywhere as it was so quiet.We arrived just before sunset and the views were stunning.The service from beginning to end was exemplary and we enjoyed selecting our own fish though the choice was limited.The turbot fillet was cooked to perfection and the accompaniments fresh and plentiful.A glass of Madeira wine at the end toasted a lovely evening.

Always reserve an evening for a meal here. Never disappointed, but tonightâs was the best yet, even without the addition of the local folk dancing troupe. Went for the traditional espetada on laurel branches. Sides: chips, maize, tomato & onion salad, grilled pineapple, savoury rice & sweet potatoes and molasses. Decent bottle of Vinho Verde. One Super Bock. Meal for â¬80. Superb.â¤ï¸

3 people out of 4 were happy with the food, however, the food took over 1 hour to be served(I estimate 1h and 20minutes). There is no joke. We were with a 9month kid and the wait killed us. Fish of the day was not good. The risotto with seafood was very good.Dear Customer Thank you for wasting your time writing your poor comment and scorning a very low score.It is difficult to accept your review because you not being completely honest.Since you and group arriving at the restaurant you have had all the support of our staf from beginning to the end of dinner.-Our food is all freshly cooked -Your fish of the day was not to your liking because we waited 20 minutes to serve because you been away during that time to try to calm down your baby.Your Dinner since you arrivale takes 38 minutes to cook during the time that you are way.-"The wait killed us" just as you said because the baby did not stop crying and you feelt embarrassed at the other customers.Dear sir your absence from the table during you food was send to the table bot had too be send back to the kitchem since your and wife were not there ,with the rest of the group waiting for you to start dinner.As you saw that night we had the restaurante full off customer therefor you need to be a litle more patient because we love to serv you perfect prepared meals how is our habit.We sory you had a bad experience in our restaurant and will do everthing to rectify it.We are aware that we offer the best service and food possible to thouse who have visited us to this day ,please call again in future SinceryFranco
