Penang Inn

It is a challenge to find good Cantonese food with just as good customer service. We found it last night at Penang Inn. We had pre-booked the Braised Pork Knuckle with Fried Bread, Teochew Seamed Wild Barramundi. Both dishes were cooked perfectly - the meat from the pork knuckle fell off the bone, meat was smooth & succulent. The fish was also perfectly cooked to tenderness, accompanied by the salted pickled vegetable & mushrooms.Broccoli with Salted Fish & Calamari in Duck Egg Yolks were also perfectly cooked. Serves were generous. There are other interesting dishes we would like to try in future & wil definitely return.Waiting staff was attentive, particularly Miko who gave us so much information on menu dishes, & ensured the dishes were paced so that we could enjoy each dish slowly.Parking is available off the street, either on Whitehorse Road or Docking Road.Highly recommended!

Water Drop Teahouse Er You Temple

Waterdrop Teahouse is a vegetarian teahouse / cafe located in Fo Guang Shan Er You Temple (Ground Floor).

A lovely restaurant with relaxed atmosphere, and because it's in a buddist temple, it has a religious ambience but never overwhelming. The restaurant is on the ground floor. The decor is simple and modern, almost like a caferteria. The staff are very friendly and look more like volunteers than professionals. Upstairs, there are two levels for religious worship and prayers open to anyone who are inclined. The food is very authentic and delightful (I'm very familiar with Chinese vegetarian dishes. I seek them out whenever I'm in Hong Kong and other asian countries). It's not just all vegetables but there is meat as well like chicken and pork. Of course they are fake but the taste and texture are like real ones.I shall list the dishes we've tried.1. Vegetarian BBQ Pork with Special Sauce. The dish comes with a bowl of steamed rice, a small bowl of Wonton soup, a small amount of pickels, a couple slices of fresh fruit. The cooking, particularly the pork was excellent. $11.50 highly recommended2. Fried Vermicelli. It had a simple but tasty flavour, not like the general strong, heavy and spicy cooking. The ingridients included some meat which were delicious. $10.50 recommended3. Spring rolls. One of the best I've ever in this country. I ordered them everytime when I went back. $6.50 (4 pieces) 4. Deep-fried Crispy Curry Puffs. Spicy and delicious. $6.50 (4 pieces)5. Vegetable and Mushroom Buns. The texture of the filling is like real minced pork. I imagine some people might find it a bit plain. But they are very popular. $6.50 (4 pieces)6. Kumquat Tea. In a teapot big enough for two, refillable with water. It has a very attractive fragrance and golden colour and tastes beautiful. Lovely with the mea. $7.00

Madam Kwong's Nyonya

We tried few items on 2 occasions. The nasi lemak, take away achar, chicken rice and Penang chee cheong fun is recommended but not the Penang fried Kuay teow. The Nyonya delicacies are good too. Place is small and crowded. Staff very friendly.Pricing on the very high side for this type of hawker eateries and the portion served.
