Very tasty and well prepared teppanyaki.Friendly and efficient service. So pleasantly surprised with this place, was afraid it was going to be pricey but turned out pretty reasonable when considering quality and amazing decor. Not sure why anyone would rate this place less than 5 stars, Surabaya is lucky to have Kayu. Great service too. Will be back.

We went to Cocari for dinner and yes, it was our first time there. The place was really packed and the table arrangement is not pleasant. We finally got our seats after asking multiple times. What's ODD is that the 'smoking' room and the non-smoking room IS AT THE SAME ROOM. What makes that a difference? Didn't they think the smoke will not diffuse to every corner of the room? Next, the refill of beef is amazingly slow. I asked a staff and she just looked at me with that FREAKING ANNOYING FACE and said, "oh it's still on process." AND SHE DID NOTHING. NOTHING. Beef was not cut very well but it was fine. Didn't really like the bbq gauze though, it caused so much grease.

Perhaps when I asked where the fish came from and was told various countries other than Japan (I believe that only 1 fish was from Japan) I should of had some alarm bells ring. There was no otoro or uni etc.. we took the selection of sashimi and sushi and even after eating it the taste was not up to scratch for a Japanese restaurant in a 5* hotel. if this was the worst thing to happen then that would of been ok... the food poisoning that I got... one of the worst that I have ever received...up all night.. extremely sick.. could not sleep... sweating and shivers... a absolute nightmare... I gave my feedback to the hotel as I was staying there. did not get any reply or response at all from my becoming so ill. Based on this experience I will not only never eat at this restaurant but will never stay at the Marriott again... next time will try the Sheraton and or the Westin that is to open (or is it already open)?

We had their udon, baked salmon and tempura. They are superb and the udon portion is quite big. If you are small eater just share the udon with your friend and that will allow you to try their other side dishes. Will surely return.

Thuis restaurant, in the center of tien is part of the Bumi Surabaya hotel. Inside is a Japanse and an Indonesian food restaurant. The 12.00 o'clock brunch buffet is very much worth visiting. Included are a number of "jaki-lima" hawker-stands with various traditional dishes and drinks. Inside there is a good Japanese, and desert buffet as well as more traditional Indonesian dishes. In the yard is kitchen which provides freshly made rice and noodle dishes as well as various types of saté and fried goodies. For less than â¬15 it is a thoroughly enjoyable bargain!
