We met family who live in Phoenix here for dinner and it was a great choice! Plentiful servings on a great variety of food. We ordered several pizzas and the salads are delicious and big enough to share. Cocktails were a bit pricey, but very smooth.Service was outstanding. We did have about an hour wait, but sat on the veranda with cocktails. It would have been nice to have that area have appetizers available as well as cocktails.

Really great location with a welcoming staff. Hard to choose between the fresh pasta and wood-fired pizza. Settled for the pie and it was a real treat. Tasty homemade mozzarella cheese and the crust had the right amount of “burn” while being thin with a hearty crust. But really it’s about the Nutella frap (actually a milk shake) and their house lemonchella. Casual and comfortable. Our fav pie place in PHX!

Looking on-line for a restaurant near our Phoenix lodging, I came across L’Amore, which had good reviews and was only a 7-minute drive away. So we made a reservation for 7 p.m. on a Saturday night and off we went. The restaurant turned out to be an Italian-cuisine gem in a small shopping mall. As soon as we entered, we heard unexpected live music from the bar area that would accompany our dinner. The restaurant was almost full with couples and families dining at white-clothed tables in the dimly lit dining room. Strings of small, brightly colored lights, perhaps still on display from the recent holidays, provided cheery decorations and additional warmth to the cozy space. Acoustics proved to be excellent and conversation easy despite the number of diners. The menu offered traditional dishes. I opted for veal piccata and my husband selected eggplant parmigiana. The ample portions came beautifully presented after our excellent salads. We both considered our choices to be tops in flavor and consistency. I loved my side dish of pasta with a thick, extremely tasty marinara sauce, one of the best that I have ever eaten. Alas, I cannot be as upbeat about the sometimes slow service and our brusque server, who neglected to tell us about the daily specials. We heard him describing them to two new arrivals at nearby tables after we ordered. The specials included fish dishes, which we would have liked to consider. My husband ordered tea after dinner and coffee was delivered instead. The server initially insisted that coffee is what my husband asked for but soon remembered that it had indeed been tea. We felt a bit awkward about being challenged in this way, but the tea got delivered, so the exchange was eventually made. Despite these hiccoughs, I still believe that L'Amore deserves a "very good" rating, because of its outstanding food and atmosphere.

After all the hype over all the years, we were in town and went straight from the airport. WOW! Great, friendly service. Perfect salad of greens - perfectly dressed. Then the pizza; biancoverde - white pizza with fresh arugula placed on it after baking. Crust was amazing; thin but not too thin, done but not overdone, hint of salt but not overly salty, cheeses were ample but not over. Maybe the most perfect pizza. Had the rice pudding for dessert and it was the best outside of New York we've had. People hype a lot of places and they turn out to be not great. This one IS great.

Went here on Easter Sunday. Had heard good things about it- was better than described. We started out ordering Wine Collers, they had a large selection in many fruit flavors: settled on the blueberry, and the watermelon; both very good. Ordered a few appetizers, the arancini was fantastic: fried risotto puffs, blended nicely with mozzarella, fresh basil, Granada Padana, and a hint of tangy lemon- good taste all around. We also each had " the wedge"- romaine lettuce, Gorgonzola cheese, and Schreiner's ( local Meat Co.) smoked bacon- very good. We then ordered 3 different pizzas, and shared/tasted among the 4 of us. The first was the traditional Margherita, the second was a Sweet Potao, Sage, and Ricotta. What an amazing combination: thin crust with a "white pie" of ricotta, topped with paper thin sweet potato slices and fresh sage. The taste was amazing ! The 3rd. Pizza was the traditional pepperoni: thin crust, plenty of thin sliced pepperoni that had a nice spiciness to it- again, very good. We each had an order of polenta...or should I say " polenta sticks"- creamy polenta, fried as thin sticks, crunchy on the outside, creamy & tasty inside; not heavy, but filling. We actually had room for desserts: we shared, peach cobbler- thin pastry crust, packed with filling, topped with vanilla ice cream. Tiramisu- WOW ! Not only light ladyfingers in a deep Exspesso, but topped with a Nutella cream and dark chocolate shavings. Great sweet taste, the Nutella was a perfect taste with the chocolate; Very, very glad we saved room for the desserts. Our Server Kyle was great- he, and the staff, did not bring one corse on top of the other, but spaced them do that we had time between each to enjoy the many great tastes here ! This was a great meal, start to finish; we will be going back again !They have a " drive thru" Lane, and you can order ahead, and pick up . This is located in North Phoenix, just 1/2 a block off of Central Ave./ Camelback Road.

I understand that some restaurateurs wish for a loud, fun ambiance as such connotes high energy and excitement. Normally, loud is fine. But this place was so loud I had to sit next to my wife (rather than across) just to converse. I was put off by the sheer din of the place. We both had the signature bolognese and we were both disappointed. The noodles were excellent but the signature sauce was bland tasting. We tried to amp the flavor up using first salt then by adding some balsamic. That helped but should be unnecessary. Our server started strong but dropped the ball at least twice. We were hitting our water pretty hard (it was 115 that day) and she was very slow to bring re-fills. Secondly, I was halfway through my meal before she offered any parmesan cheese. Not good.I left disappointed.

A group of us went to Pomo since we were staying at a hotel about 6 blocks away. We didn't realize that it was a hangout close to the university and found that it can be quite busy. Sitting at the bar, we were given menus and soon picked out either pasta or pizza. The waiter/bartender was an amiable young man who supplied us with drinks and made sure they were filled promptly. However, as prompt as he was, the food was even faster, it came out in under 10 minutes - hot and scrumptious. The pasta, gnocchi, parmesan and pizza were all delicious. The pizza had nice blisters on the curst to supply a charred flavor to the overlay of sauce and cheese. It was also just short of nuclear heat from the oven. The other dishes were also hot and very well received - especially the arrabiata pasta. My wife got this one, she likes spicy food and this was very spicy according to her - she loved it. For dessert, we had gelato and it too was delicious. So, great food, attentive staff and wonderful gelato - who can go wrong with this choice?
