La Forchette & Pennington Pizza

Its been a couple of years since this restaurant was last reviewed in TripAdvisor, and it looks like they may have changed their name. Its now Pennington Pizza Italian Grill at the same location. It must still be the same restaurant and the same owners because the menu says "Family Owned/ Fine Italian Cuisine Since 1978."We had a late afternoon meeting at a nearby office. I had spotted this restaurant on the way there. After the meeting, someone said let's stop for dinner before going home. We had gone out to eat from this office before, but somehow never before here. OK, lets do it.You enter through a small labyrinth of doors and vestibules, that lead to the counter in front of the pizza ovens. The counter-people must have thought we were there for a take-out order. When we said we wanted to eat-in they pointed out the dining room we had missed behind us.The four of us comfortably sat at a large booth that would have been a squeeze for six. The waiter was not a native English-speaker, and honestly I couldn't understand a word he said. He gave us menus. We decided on a large Veggie Lovers Pizza and a couple of appetizers to share. The Texas Fries appetizer was french fries covered with melted American cheese and bacon. Tasty, predictable, but it was hard to find the bacon. The baked raviolis came with a Marinara dipping sauce and were also tasty.Next the pizza -- Steamy hot, thin crust and loaded with veggies. Very good. My only complaint is that they serve pizzas on those stands that keep it about 8 inches above the table surface. Because of the low lighting in the dining room, the stand creates a shadow that makes it hard to see your food.Pennington Pizza Italian Grill also offers pasta specialties and other Italian fare, as well as the standard stuff you would expect at any pizzeria. Next time I might try a pasta dish.Overall, not bad. Prices are not bad, but might be a little higher than expected. Still, I might try this place again when I'm in the area -- maybe for lunch.

The chief and I were at the hospital awaiting the birth of our grand daughter when I got hungry after waiting 14 hours with no baby. So we went on yelp and found that this place was open and had a bar so we went for a late dinner. Surprisingly it was the old Diamonds where we have been many times. It was like homecoming. I had a couple of martinis, arugula salad and the roasted chicken, while the chief has her Prosecco, Cesar salad and the mussels. We both loved our meals and the bar tender Rich couldn’t have been nicer.Still no baby.....

We stopped by for the first time today for a couple slices to go with a soft drink. Got a Broccoli white slice and a margarita slice. They tasted very good. The thin crust was notburnt, and the toppings were warm tender. We took home a menu, since we live near by and probably order for pick up next time. Service was quick for all of us who stop in for a take out. Coming off the Pennington circle go slow because you might go past it. Marco's has gluten free pizza as well as Specialty Pizza and Gourmet Pizza. Also Brooklyn Pie. Although Pizza is their main product Marco's does have sandwiches , burgers , salads Wraps and Beef or Steak sandwiches. Pizza pricing starts at $7.99 a pie. Very competitive. The building was very clean but sit down seats are limited. We are coming again . See you there.

Our family went to celebrate a special occasion. We were seated outside in a very makeshift patio. It was a cold, rainy day, and the wind was blowing through the sides and of the plastic sheets hanging as outside “walls.” No more ne thought to tape them done until we suggested it as we were reallyfreezing. Our table was squeezed into a small platform with a tricky step down. The food was good, but we didn’t linger too long because of our physical discomfort. We asked twice for bread and never got it. Very disappointing.I am disheartened about your experience and glad your food was good. Unfortunately Mother Nature did not cooperate with the day. During the spring / summer season the side panels are removed. The restaurant confirmed all reservations in advance mentioning the forecast would call for 100% rain and high winds if sitting in our patio. The restaurant staff made everything possible to accommodate with overhead lamp heaters and fire towers making the environment comfortable for outdoors dining as much as we could. We welcome you back Chef Salvatore Scarlata

Great pie, nice people good service. They make a great bacon pie, which has become my favorite, in spite of not being a traditional pizza topping.

Upon entering, the decor was outdated and not welcoming. My wine glass was dirty. The homemade bread which cost $10. extra was a joke. It was just the house bread with some cheese melted on it. The barbecued shrimp app. was three measly shrimp and just fair. The pasta dishes were over-oiled with black (old) mushrooms. Highly unsatisfied!! It was noted on reservation that it was a birthday celebration, and this was not even mentioned. Don't waste your money!!!

Been coming here since it first opened and always had a delicious meal with wonderful service. Ordered our two favorite pizzas today. Skimpy ingredients and no flavor at all. Seems to be under new ownership. Truly disappointing, especially when compared to its former excellence.

Driving through NJ and saw this place and stopped in. Wish we kept driving. They welcomed regulars with handshakes and backslaps - wow we thought- we might have stumbled onto a friendly jewel. Nope - we sat ten minutes with no attention as they chatted with regulars and asked after family etc. Once we ordered the food it took forever and no eye contact from bus staff, other waiters we tried to flag down to get more bottled water. Nothing. Ate our appetizer and took the rest to go. We get it - this is a place that caters to regulars. Don’t let the tablecloths fool you. This is not a restaurant that welcomes you with the promise of good service. Read other reviews and wish this place the best. Good food does not mean good restaurant. The hostess apologized saying they were busy. Funny, I noticed plenty of empty tables.

The food is excellent. The service is pretty good but slows down quite a bit on weekend nights. Fresh salads, delicious pasta, and really good octopus appetizer. Nice for takeout. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is the pizza, while good, isn't amazing

Cugino's Italian Market

To get the best tasting Italian food in the area Cugino's is the most authentic Italian Market I have been to. Take home meals taste like you had at an upscale Italian restaurant or the best home cooked from an Italian family .Their menu is extensive. From dozen of choices of Salads, Bakery, Panninis, or just side dishes. Take home is serious business in which you need to know or see the Cugino choices before you call or stop in. If not you will be awhile before you order if you decide to make your selections at the store. Everything will look scrumptious .I choose the Italian Cheesesteak, The Best I every had. Service was excellent, friendly and informative. They really took their time in answering our questions and explaining the different choices. It is worth to stop by even if it is just to educate yourself on the immense selections Cugino Italian Market offers.
