It pains me to give this review. After pulling up 2 computers and a cell phone and waiting in a que for 6 hours, we finally scored a table for 2 in September to celebrate our 20th anniversary. We planned our whole trip around this one meal. Perhaps our expectations were too high, especially following Chef’s Table and other food porn programs. Maybe it was because Chef Massimo wasn’t there and the staff is not as “on” as when he is around. We don’t know. What we did find was a very stiff staff. There was no interest in us as patrons, no outside conversation just rushed through, often unintelligible, descriptions of each dish. And as we had the tasting menu, so that happened over 12 times. We also chose the wine pairings and found a heavy on the sweet white wine selection and we had to double up 3 times! For the price of the pairings, more than many meals alone, we found that pretty shocking. The food itself was very good, but not mind blowing. There was nothing that transported us in the the mind and world of Chef, nothing that gave us pause as something extraordinary. We had a better meal all around, at a small restaurant in Parma. (La Filoma) And finally I will be selfish and bitter, there was no acknowledgement of our anniversary even though I noted that in my reservation and no one asked at the restaurant. Petty for sure, but for the cost, time and effort to get there, we were sorely disappointed. If the food hadn’t been as good, I would have given it a 2 star rating.

We loved this Trattoria, very local and a bit „rustic“, what makes the flair of this place. The wine selection is a bit limited (Lambrusco or normal) but this didn’t bother us at all. Food amazing with big portions. Nice the free digestives at the end.

We chose to eat here because it was close to our hotel and from the map looked like we could walk to it. And the reviews looked good. When we got there we found it to be in a very ordinary location on a busy main road with no footpath, so we had to take the car anyway. It has its own carpark. As we entered the restaurant we went past a large function room which was in use, but the restaurant entrance was quite nice and the greeting most welcoming. We were given a glass of presecco and some crostini while we ordered. I noticed that the prices seemed very reasonable.Starters looked OK - my lobster spaghetti was very tasty, if a bit rustic. My wife's prawn confection was fine, though apparently lacked flavour. We both had prosciutto-wrapped rabbit fillet. It ate as if it had been pre-cooked and kept warm, which I would think odd as a fillet of rabbit can be pan-fried in just a few minutes. Accompaniments of potato and courgette were massively overcooked, watery and tasteless and the balsamic dressing was unremarkable. We had a very nice Pinot Noir from the Sudtirol. We declined desserts so the waiter brought us a plate of excellent petit fours - a nice touch.During our meal, the very loud band in the function room started their set and there was a procession of people from the function walking to and from the toilets past the open front of the restaurant. Some unsupervised children burst into our room at one point. All in all, it has some of the touches of a classy restaurant and service was engaging and professional. However, the quality of the food was really disappointing, somewhere just below the standard of an ordinary local trattoria. And the function room is a problem if you just want a quiet dinner.

We enjoyed amazing food here in a relaxed setting as well as delicious wine, all at a very reasonable price. We managed to be seated outside immediately after coming from the Mercato Albinelli, service was friendly and menus were available in Italian and English. The food here is that of Puglia rather than Modena, but is so good that Bottega Mama Puglia is well worth a visit.

Typical Emiliana cuisine in a lunch-only, four tables total, wonderfully executed gem. The gnoccho fritto are so light and puffy, amazing! The pasta is a perfect example of great execution and “dressed, not drowned”.The only slight miss from my perspective was panna cotta that was, to me, too firm (though with wonderful flavor).

I really liked my eggplant Parmigiano. They bent over backwards to enhance the Italian / English communication gap. Lovely hosts.

We absolutely loved this restaurant, we suggest making a reso straight away, don't hesitate. We did two different tasting menus with wine pairings. This allowed us to try the different flavors. The price was very good considering the quality of both food and wine and they were very generous with the wine. If only we lived closer, we would definitely go often. TripAdvisor is bang on with the reviews, go before the waiting lists become too long!
