The best place we ate in Salento. We tried a couple of other restaurants & masserias during our vacation in Salento, but this stayed in the top with its great food, especially the pasta. Service can be improved but I saw that this goes for the entire region

We visited this pizzeria with family and ordered a number of their creative pizzas. The menu has a good assortment of pizzas to meet pretty much everyone's taste. I was surprised to see that prosciutto crudo was not an option, however they did have a whole section of bufala mozzarella pizzas. Il Golfo was very good, with a section of the crust filled with ricotta. Service is somewhat spotty as not all our pizzas were served at the same time and we wanted quite a bit for our appetizer. All in all it is definitely worth a visit.

We ate at Franco's restaurant on two occasions. First evening (Friday) restaurant was very busy with large tables of diners and local family celebrations, we pre-booked our table. Waiter promptly served us, we had Linguine al Ricci (sea urchins) to start followed by fillet steaks with mushroom sauce, a mixed salad, mixed fresh fruit desert, glass of Nergroamara red and nice Chardonnay. The food was lovely, freshly prepared and tasty. Great attentive waiter who even though very, very busy, looked after us very well with a smile.Second visit restaurant was less busy (Tuesday evening) we chose Anti Pasti meats selection to share, then both decided on a Pizza as we don't normally eat them at home. Diavolo and Quatro Stagione and a mixed salad. For dessert we had panna cotta fruita da bosco to share. Nergroamara red wine. All our food was again freshly cooked and well presented.

Perfect ratio quality price, and very tasty food. The dishes are traditional from the region, the food is fresh, the ambient is very typical. I love to have the so called "antipasto della casa" with a nice mixture of vegetables grilled according to the tradition, meatballs, potatoes croquetts, the so called potatoes "pitta"... in the end your are full already with antipasti! And it is so cheap!I really recommend to go there to give a try. Also the location is nice, right in the middle of the city centre, close to the baroque church.

In occasione della festa di San Rocco abbiamo cenato da Diverso. Non conoscevo questo posto. Tavolini allâesterno. Siamo stati fortunati a trovar posto. Personale molto giovane ma gentile e disponibile. Servizio veloce Avevamo famissima. Menù modificato per questi giorni di festa. Buone le polpette e il panino con salsiccia arrostita. We went for dinner in this restaurant and, as soon as we arrived, we were stunned by the beautiful location in harmony with the century-old monumental olive trees. We came back six times in ten days, which speaks volumes to how delicious the food is. Everything is superb, from the starters to the desserts, and is in religious accordance with the traditional cuisine of Salento. Every dish is carefully explained by the very kind staff, which speaks very good English. Andrea and Alessandro are the kindest and most accomodating hosts ever, while their mother is the main cook and their father supervises with great experience and savoir-faire. We recommend the "Antipasto Gli Ulivi", the Carpaccios of Swordfish or Octopus and the delicious Insalata di Mare. Let the staff explain you the several kind of flours from antique grains that they employ in making their pasta by hand, which is the most digerible pasta we ever had. The "Sagne al Ragù di Seppia" and the "Pasta di Riso Venere con Polpo e Funghi Cardoncelli" are simply irresistible, so much that we had them several times. The fish of the day is beautifully prepared and served, and the "Pezzetti di Cavallo" (diced horsemeat) is a real treat. Five stars is an understatement. Keep up the good work!

I shall write the review in English as it might help those vagabonds. For starters the place feels like one of those restaurants that winds you back to 30-40 years back. The young waiters are nice,well-mannered, sometimes a bit too eager (they whisked the plate away even before we finished licking the plate clean) but you feel comfortable.The patio is marvelous with grapes hanging down and the portions are well more than one can eat. Food very fresh the pasta was amazing!They speak a bit of English( my friend was French) but I can't vouch for their english as I'm italian but i can definitely say that with your eyes closed you'll end up having some quite well cooked, definitely mouthwatering seafood.Salve, sono Andrea, il proprietario della struttura ed addetto alle pubbliche relazioni.Grazie per la bella recensione e per esserci venut a trovare, spero di rivederla nuovamente a cenare ancora da noi!!Cordiali saluti, Andrea
