Once in a while, you get very lucky and find a gem. This was my lucky day! Trying to find a restaurant within walking distance from our bed and breakfast, I stumbled upon this jewel. It is a combination store, wine cantina and very small restaurant (about 6 tables)but they serve up food fit for a king! Not only that, we sat in their cantinetta ( small wine cellar) that only accomodated one table. Simone, the owner, was our waiter and he made sure that our evening was very special. First, he brought us the tenderest and lightest fried pumpkin flowers. Then a seafood antipasto with octopus and a zucchini sauce (incredible). Homemade bread with carrots and pumpkin seeds as well as other delightful breads. Our entree was a risotto with porcini and a special cheese from the area. For dessert, profriteroles made in house with chocolate and whipped cream. OMG! This little place is on the outskirts of Bassano del Grappa in Romano d'Ezzelino. If you are ever in Bassano del Grappa, make it your business to go there! Sorry, but some of the pictures were of half eaten food...we got excited and ate before thinking about the pictures but rest assured, they were beautifully presented when they came out. If you are a wine connoisseur, you will love this place as well.

4.5 stars. Best meat I have had in a long time and it was cooked right in front of us on the fireplace. The menu has a list of meat and cheese plates, the most extensive I have seen. Creative antipasti. Good pasta dishes and a diverse dessert menu. Great wine list by the glass or by the bottle. Staff was very friendly. Menu was in Italian and English. I can't say enough about this place. A little difficult to find, but gps was correct. Parking in the back. I won't hesitate to make the hour drive again to come back and visit.

Had dinner with Your Italia Cycling Group with set menu. Antipasta was excellent followed by pasta and chicken main course. Gorgeous interior with patio out front. Hope to return!

Partiamo dalla fine: stare seduti a tavola con l'oste-proprietario a discutere di buoni vini e formaggi dopo quasi 4 ore di permanenza e sentirsi così ospiti un po' speciali è un'esperienza che sicuramente ricorderemo. Questo percorso di sapori che inizia con un aperitivo in cortile, prosegue con una discesa in cantina, risale in una stanza-salotto tutta per noi e si conclude sulla veranda panoramica è qualcosa di diverso e stimolante: un sentiero nella storia di questa famiglia, dell'edificio che ne è stato plasmato e nell'evoluzione di una cucina che dai bambini delle scuole è arrivata ai palati fini degli adulti. C'è poco da discutere: anche volendo trovare qualche piccolo difetto qua e là , il menù è di tutto rispetto, con un plauso alla varietà e abbondanza di ogni portata (mai una ripetizione, fateci caso); l'abbinamento dei vini il punto forte, con alcune bottiglie veramente notevoli e una generosità di mescita che lascia quasi sorpresi visto il rapporto qualità -prezzo, difficilmente superabile. Si entra col tramonto e si esce a notte fonda, trasportati dai racconti dei proprietari e dalla piacevolezza di un servizio dedicato che fa sentire particolarmente a proprio agio, anche per il giusto rapporto tra confidenza e formalità . Esempio da prendere a modello insomma, per chi crede che la buona cucina sia qualcosa che può andare oltre il solito ristorante.

Absolutely a great terrace with aan nice atmosphere. At Saturday they had live music (jazz). The food is good and the staff very friendly. Nice place for a night out, alsof for big groups and families. With populair playground for the kids. Frankly speaking we were not expecting to find such a high class restaurant ! Congratulations to the chef and the management. We came here with a Groupon voucher and we had been treated with top service. I just ordered something different for my son which was excellent too. Seafood was delicious of very high quality : no doubt "first class" ingredients characterised by great freshness. You can find different menu proposals ... according to the catch of the period of course they are different but always inviting. There is the possibility to book a tasting menu of raw fish dishes too. Very elegant but sober place at the same time which makes you feel at ease.

We dined here last night and it was absolutely delightful. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and in excellent condition. Signore Guglielmo and Ana took great care of us this evening. He was very detailed in explaining his fresh fish offerings for that night and very patient as I understand Italian but I don't speak it fluently. He prepared starters of fresh gnocchi in a pomodoro sauce for my wife and a lighty smoked swordfish for me. He also brought a small tasting of the gnocchi for me. Both were outstanding! The swordfish was thinly sliced on a bed of fresh crisp lettuce and drizzled with an olive oil, vinegar and lemon dressing, seasoned with salt and pepper just right. The gnocchi was light, the pomodoro sauce was as fresh and flavorful as we have ever had. We then had a seafood fagioli soup which included calamari and shrimp, very hearty and tasty. We were getting full and concerned that we would not be able to enjoy our second piatti. Our main came, branzino grilled and simply served with fresh lemons on the side. The fish was about 2 pounds, so it was a good size for the two of us. The plates were oven-hot and I could still hear the juices sizzling. It was grilled to perfection and expertly seasoned, no need to add anything to it! The skin was crispy, the fish was amazing, even my wife enjoyed it as she is not a big fan of fish. The seasoning, the fresh lemon juice and the freshness of the fish was absolutely fantastic. We had no room for dessert so we just enjoyed the rest of our rosè and watched the dining room get fuller. Signore Guglielmo and his wife Ana took personal care of everyone. He noticed that I got up to get a look at the fresh fish that he was displaying to a table and then decided to bring the various offerings to our table for us to look at before serving them to his other customers, it was so kind of him to interact with us to that level. He takes great pride in his cuisine and it is obvious how precise he is with his preparations. It was a high level show of great cuisine. We will be back as we are staying nearby for ten days.

Garden Relais is the perfect combination of ambiance and food. The staff are very welcoming, rapid and knowledgeable in terms of Menu and recommendations. The food in itself is impeccable with an extraordinary variety ranging from pizza, pasta, meat and fish platters. This is equally applicable to the desserts.I recommend going for lunch and sitting outside to enjoy the view and the atmosphere. Also, it is definitely a place for banquets and/or celebrations! Don't be scared when you see the menu: ask for the business lunch. Honest food and amazing value. Don't forget to have a mezzo mezzo before starting....waiters speak English and are knowledgeable and pleasant. Perfect for a loooooong lunch....
