The Little Comptoir is a very busy Italian restaurant in the heart of historic Angouleme. The interior is immaculately clean - a mixture of historic architecture and modern chic, although the few outside tables are squashed on the side of a pedestrian pathway, opposite a Kebab shop. Prices are higher than the many french restaurants around. My salmon salad at E16 was enormous, with 4 salmon steaks, although our pizzas (E16 & E14) were decidedly average, with the base somewhat undercooked. The staff were efficient but seemed ambivalent about serving English tourists alongside their chic regulars, so I would not recommend.

It was our first visit this year. Too cold to dine outside. Being a Saturday night the restaurant was full and really buzzing. The new owner keeps of making improvements. The resturant now is fresh and modern. Nice new plates, glasses and cutlery as well. The food was excellent. Very well cooked dishes presented perfectly. All the improvements have not been made at a price to the customer. Dishes are all excellent value. We will be back a lot more times this you. Well done everyone there and keep up the good work.

We were recommended by our hotel and were not disappointed. Greeted by Mark at the door and seated after a little family squabbling (made me feel like I was at my Italian friends house). Thanks for seating us MarkMark was very friendly and made us feel at home. Food and wine was the best, atmosphere was ok very small only 8 tables, reservations recommended. I would go here again.

We had a lovely warm welcome as soon as we opened the door.The smell of the kitchen filled the restaurant with aromas of garlic and toasted cheese.They specialise in pizzas and raclette but we enjoyed the set menus.The waitress was very patient with my companions poor French and indecisiveness.The food arrived promptly with a smile and the restaurant continued to fill up reassuring us we'd chosen well.The wine too was good value and the sweets delicious.All for a good price and convivial atmosphere.I'd recommend to all and will definitely revisit often.

We visited on a Friday lunchtime just on opening so the restaurant was empty. The waiter was friendly and attentive - he had no English but my ropey French sufficed - but for English speaking visitors here a few basic French phrases would be useful. We both ordered pizza - SWMBO had a Vegetarian and I went for a Mexican (I've anglicised the names because I can't remember how they spelled them. We received large, tasty thin based pizzas with loads of toppings - and the knives were sharp! We agreed that they were better pizzas then we'd been able to obtain on a recent visit to Rome (I think I reviewed some if your life is empty and you want to go and read about our disappointing gastronomic experiences in the Eternal City). Good pizza, good service. What's not to like?
