Fresh fish. Great service. Wonderful place. You're in Calabria and recall the beaches you visited 30 years ago. No skyscrapers, wildly beaches. Simple life, perfect holidays. Il Pergolato reflects this. Simple food but fresh and perfectly cooked. Treat you as you're local. You feel at home. I will miss it.

I've been in Amantea several times before for business reasons, never had a chance to get to thehighest part of town, which is indeed the most fascinating to see; so we were struggled between choice of finding a restaurant by the sea ( and not climbing the stairs to upper Amantea) or finding some place to eat, possibly local food. Well this happened to be the right choice, we appreciated a wonderful tagliere with local cheese, vegetables and of course spicy salami, olives etc and frisa, good house wine then move on to upper town

We were the only English people in the place, so if it's good enough for the locals then it's good enough for us!! Very good home cooked food especially the fish , very reasonably priced and good prices for wine/beer etc. Very pleasant helpful staff.

Young people (brothers and sister, sister Sorenna, seems to be al most Matriarchal, in a good way) who are proud of their Calabrian heritage and cook the foods, in what I would guess, as their Grandparents would have cooked and eaten.Very reasonably priced and some good quality wines as well.Been there a few times now and will return when next in Amantea, which will be soon.

The restaurant has very nice hidden garden, it gives you a wonderful peaceful feeling. We took some antipasti (pesce spada and gamberoni as well as a parmigiana) and all of them were very good. Then we got some pasta and fish dishes (tagliata di tonno and spada, alici) and also here everything was very good. We also had some local white wine (vino della casa) which was also a good choice ! The price was reasonable. We have been very happy of the nice dinner we spent there. We recommend to step by if you stay in Amantea!

Given it was off season, Monday, and late lunch, we were confessedly expecting nothing but a decent meal, and to our ineffable delight were served to the most memorable primi di mare that we could have hoped for. The 'vino della casa' was as enchanting as the atmosphere.

We were really looking forward to our meal here as we were staying at this unique hotel. We invited 12 new found relatives from Amantea for a special dinner celebration. They had set up a nice table outside with an incredible view but it was too windy, so they pushed together three round tables in a smaller dining room to accommodate our group.We did not order from the menu because the hotel offers a fixed price menu at 45 euros. They cut the price to 35 for this large group.We had three main courses: A fish cake was just OK. The fish course was generous in size, but overdone, so a bit dry. Only one person had seconds on the pasta course...enough said. Dessert was OK as well.Really not a good value. Sorry.

I had a lovely evening in this restaurant in the hills just behind Belmonte Calabro. A delicious pasta made with figs, bacon and aniseed. And a good fish second course as well. Lovely service and we met the chef at the end of the night. It's a country setting so nice if you would like a break from the beach with some fresher air. Belmonte Calabro the little town nearby is also worth a visit and the local bar in the town serves American breakfasts on occasional Sundays. Fantastic Air BnB near there as well called Ex Convento Cappuccinni.Thanks guys for your feedback and enjoy your trip in Calabria. See you soon

After arriving at our nearby hotel we were dropped here to get lunch. It was a nicely appointed place and the food was better than I expected.Tasty bruschetti, excellent seafood salads and rissottos, and lots of fresh, tasty bread to accompany the meal. Why the name I have no idea.
