Wonderful restaurant on the south side of Edinburgh serving 8 course gastronomic delights with wonderfully matched wines. Service is excellent as is the preparation of the tasting menu. Condita is one of those no menu places. Owned by fine dining consultant, Mark Slaney, their head chef is Conor Toomey, formerly of the Isle of Eriska Hotel. Before taking charge of the kitchen at Eriska, Conor was executive chef at Amberley Castle at Arundel, head chef at Storrs Hall at Windermere and head chef at Coworth Park, Ascot. All of these held a prestigious 3 Rosettes in the AA Restaurant Guide.Highly Recommended.

We were expecting a good meal as our friends had been before but this was really special. From the exquisite amuse bouche, through beautifully fresh fish, tasty local meats and vegetables all blending together in such tasty and sometimes unusual combinations. The drinks were lovely too, particularly the wine recommended by the very knowledgeable staff. And the staff should get a mention, well informed, discreet with personality, a great mix.

Very pleased to get a table here this year on our annual pilgramage to the Ed Fringe - we couldn't get to eat here last year!In summary the food, wine and service were excellent. We were eating relatively late after a show at the Fringe but this wasn't a problem - staff were very welcoming and patient - we were the last to leave but were not made to feel that we had oversayed our welcome. The four of us had a mixture of starters - prawn and sweetcorn fritters, lamb koftas and two dips with breads - all excellent. Three of us chose the posk belly with haggis bonbons - an absolute triumph! The pork just melted and the bubble and squeak cake was a delight. We had no room for deserts - but then decided we would try a taster of their ice creams - the safron flavour is unusual but delious but the star was the gingerbread flavour! Will return next year without hesitation - just wish we lived closer. Great time - thank you!

After a night out and you live in Loanhead - this is the stop to get your fix of a good chippy or pizza as it is the better of the two chippy's in Loanhead. The service is always quick and never any issues. The food is average - even if you haven't been on the sauce! The chips are always cooked, the pizza's are a bit stodgy but when you are hungry....
