According to the INE, it had a population of 2,988 at the start of 2010. The village is situated in the north-western part of the Sierra Nevada mountain range, at an altitude of 1,088 metres. The municipality borders Pinos Genil, Dúdar, Quéntar, La Peza, Lugros, Jérez del Marquesado, Trevélez, Capileira and Monachil. Its boundary with Trevélez and Capileira runs along the highest ridge of the Sierra Nevada, and over Mulhacén, making these the three highest municipalities in peninsular Spain. The Genil and Maitena rivers rise in Güéjar.

The tapas weren't the best i have had in a city that can really be creative with them ( sliced meat on bread and mini gazpacho). Nonetheless after one drink, I ordered a burrito for dinner. I forgot that the Spanish do not do spice and heat of any kind when it comes to food. When it arrived, it was nothing more than cooked rice and minced meat. It had seasoning but not a Mexican taste at all. They should give the option of picante and keep a jar of Chipotle in tbe fridge for those who choose.Service was professional.Dear customer, First of all, thank you for your comments and suggestions that allowed us to greatly improve the quality of our service. Unfortunately, we are not a tapas bar, like most bars in the city, but instead we served an aperitif with the drink. We agree with your comments, and now we serve the burrito next to a tabasco bottle.

The restaurant is small, with two distinct areas. Most people concentrate around the bar, where tapas are served.The quality of the food is very good, and the pricing is very reasonable. I tasted a sashimi that was wonderful. However, I found the slices thinner that those you may be served in a traditional sushi bar.As negative points to improve, the waiting time was too long. I think that this is due to the fact that there is only one person preparing the sushis and sashimis, but definitively there is room for improvement here.Hello Jose L.Thanks for your score and your critic.We love your thoughts about our food, and, as we already announced, we are serving no more tapas from March in order to have a better service in the kitchen. This restaurant is special. The food available is a combination of Spanish dishes, Middle Eastern dishes and fusion dishes, allowing you to fully taste the local cuisine. Located at the bottom of the Alhambra, when you sit outside you have an excellent view of the Alhambra complex. Visit around sunset for dinner to see the complex during the day and then lit up at night. Order the gazpacho - it’s delicious. And the cod for the main and you will not be disappointed. The wine menu is also great and of course is served chilled to offset the incredible heat even at night. We visited for a friends birthday and it was super special. Dear customer, we are glad you enjoyed the birthday in Ruta del Azafrán. We have a wide gastronomic variety accompanied by views of our Alhambra. Thank you for choosing our restaurant!

The place looks very nice but not vegetarian friendly .When I return my dish almost full because it wasn't good, they still charged the full price of the dish, 11€ for vegetarian pad Thai which is also not cheap like they describe the place.We are sorry for the inconvenience. Dinner here last night was outstanding. A very quiet setting that seats about 20 people. Reservations are essential. The restaurant is closed Monday and Tuesday. Do not miss a chance to eat here. Service is outstanding and the food is delicious. Nice wine list too. Highly recommend this restaurant.

We’ve been traveling for three months in Spain and Portugal and we were longing for affordable but different - this was a great place! Great burgers and fries, homemade pizza and nachos! Peter even made us some great margaritas from scratch! Don’t expect things to taste exactly like the American equivalents but it was all even better. We had a hard time not getting the basmati rice and curry dish...so many things to choose from. Marta is a wonderful cook and Peter a great bartender. We met a few locals there as well and had good conversation eating and drinking at the bar. There is a dining room however and it’s a great place for families.
