Gaziantep (Turkish pronunciation: [ɡaːˈzianˌtep]), previously and still informally called Antep (pronounced [anˈtep]; Armenian: Այնթապ, Kurdish: Dîlok), is a city in the western part of Turkey's Southeastern Anatolia Region, some 185 kilometres (115 mi) east of Adana and 97 kilometres (60 mi) north of Aleppo, Syria. The city has two urban districts under its administration, Şahinbey and Şehitkamil. It is the sixth-most populous city in Turkey and one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world.

Balkon sits in a wonderful terrace of the Grand Hotel in Gaziantep. It is a large, open air, comfortable place, particularly in the evening. The background music is not too loud, the service is friendly and the menu emphasizes fish and chicken. The fish is good, although not up to the standards of similar places in Istanbul, and flavorful. But the mezzes are really wonderful and a great meal can be had just trying some of them as in a tapas bar: fried cheese, sauteed mushrooms redolent of thyme, a light-as-a-cloud hummus, seaweed, marinated levrek, unctuous aubergine salad, delicious giant beans and probably twenty more. I visited for dinner last night with a colleague. The views accross the City are fantastic. The restaurant it very well presented, lots or room and very well lsid out with quality furnishings and decor.The staff are very professional and most welcoming and pleasant.The menu has great range and choice. We both had soup to start which was hot and very tasty. We had fredh Sea Bass for main course which was a good size, perfectly cooked and presented and beautiful to eat. We had fruit salad and chocolate pudding for desert. Great service with great food in great place. Surprisingly, or not surprisingly after you stay a bit in Gaziantep, this restaurant doesn't serve alcohol unlike all other Big Chefs in Turkey !!!If you want to eat something different than kebabs and if you want to eat something western style, without the spices, that's the place.Good salads, good food, nice breakfast. I didn't like the apple crumble but generally food is OK.I also advice as a place to get together with friends or work online in afternoon.Ok for grops -who don't drink...- otherwise you will go to Bayazhan which is more turkish taste but with the bonus of a possibility of glass of wine.
