This restaurant is just off the main road, with a more English type menu. Ate here twice during our stay, once for Sunday Lunch (perfect) and once before our flight ( taste of home) both occasions meal was beautifully presented with attentive staff. not the cheapest but one of the best . Highly recommended

Fantastic food and service, we chose the concept menu so three courses plus wine, excellent value, as a serious foodie I could not find fault! The menu offered choices for all tastes, from fairly simple, vegetarian etc we live in mainland Portugal and I struggle to have a choice of vegetarian food, here I was spoilt for choice.My family will think Iâm ill as thereâs always something that doesnât meet expectations, I watched lots of food being served and the presentation of all was excellent. Iâm just sorry they were fully booked earlier in our stay but on our next visit we will be back.

Have visited this restaurant so many times over the last three years and it is my favourite. The atmosphere is very friendly and the service is very good. You cannot visit this restaurant without trying the Steak on the Stone it is the best. Prices are very reasonable.

14 nights stopping close by. Loads of eating places within a 10 minute walk.First visit here impressed us so much that two further visits were made.The menu offers various dishes. On one of our visits I decided to try Steak on the Stone and opted for the large one. Believe me that it was a sight to behold. The meat was without doubt one of the best steaks Iâve ever had.Donât be put off by the initial appearance, itâs a hidden gem.Excellent value for money.

We were recommended this restaurant and it didnât disappoint! Apart from good food, the whole evening is entertaining, from the lamb shank being pulled apart with forks at the table to the picanha Beef being sliced to order onto your plate .. as often as you like!! The icing on the cake was the pineapple, grilled and sliced to order as a post-Beef/mini-pud!! Delicious!! Staff are great, and very helpful .. and there is a hint of fun all the way through the evening. Having read previous reviews we were very keen to try this restaurant, in addition to that we had just joined Fork by Trip Advisor and received a 30 % discount when booking on line.The food was presented well however the french onion soup lacked depth of taste. I ordered wine by the glass and my husband a beer, we were not offered top ups at all through the evening and in fact found it very hard to get anyoneâs attention to order so gave up. Nobody approached us to confirm our food was okay for us.We found it really offensive that other tables were receiving tops ups without asking.When it came to the end of the meal however, up selling was obviously more important than bring us the bill, which when it eventually..... arrived was incorrect, that was quickly remedied though. Violinist was very good and engaging, however PLEASE change your cd, after hearing The Hills are alive with the Sound of Music 4 times in one evening it is just too much for a person to bear.Even with the discount applied this was the most expensive meal weâve had so far in Funchal. We booked through The Fork/ Tripadvisor which secured a welcome 30% discount. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food delicious and well presented. There was also a 30% discount available for people dining before 6.30pm. We enjoyed a number of restaurants in Funchal but this one is definitely one of the best. Also good to see some options for vegetarian diners which can be lacking in Madeira.

From the moment you arrive the staff are warm and welcoming ... Every table was full but we still receieved very attentive service all evening.Starters were tiger Prawns then followed Beef Wellington all superb with the Beef medium rare as ordered ...White and red were topped up throughout the meal as per the concept inclusive menu!Desserts were a delight to look at and eat ... It is rare to find a restaurant where both of us wants to come back instead of trying something new when we are on vacation. Their specials are outstanding, unique and high quality. The service is excellent and even though we have been here multiple times, we are likely to return.

I had a recommendation so went for lunch. We sat outside in the courtyard, which was very pleasant... tables were spread out well, not so close to other tables. Good choices on the menu, but even with all the choice I decided to have the Scabbard fish again in Madeira, but this time with an almond crust. A starter of bruschetta was very good. The fish was delicious, it could have been slightly dry on its own, but came with a good bowl of sauce, along with potatoes and salad. The Polvo was gorgeous, I almost wish I'd chosen that, but I can have next time! We finished with a passion fruit Panna Cotta which was delicious. With a half bottle of Casal Garcia it was a really lovely lunch for a very reasonable price. Thank you, will come here again sometime.
