What should have been a really nice meal was totally spoilt by the huge amount of salt the chef had put on everything. Good menus, helpful staff but the food was so salty it left me feeling like I'd been preserved! Disappointing.

I went to this restaurant with 6 relatives. Most of us were a bit disappointed, with the exception of the person who had porcini ravioli, which apparently was quite good.Overall, the dishes are fairly standard German food. Mine got most of the flavour from salt. Some of my relatives had Schnitzel, and unfortunately were disappointed by the relative amounts of breading and meat. Most other dishes were satisfactory, but not special in any way.The salad bar was not bad, but provided insufficient variety and too many options with mayonnaise..

We had lunch here after climbing the hill to Baumkronenweg. Service was friendly and welcoming. Menu was in English and the staff also spoke good English. Tasty food and big portions - very good value. The beer garden looked lovely - had it not been raining!

The restaurant is located in the village of Buchholz, a part of the town of Waldkirch. It is in many ways typical of restaurants in this part of Germany - clean and efficient, with a comfortable dining room. The food, however, is considerably better than average for this kind of restaurant. I had a rather simple dish - pork schnitzel with spaetzle and vegetables. The vegetables were perfectly cooked and the spaetzle were of very high quality, as was the schnitzel. I also tasted the steak with pepper sauce, which had a delicious sauce with a strong hint of mustard. The dessert was a white chocolate mousse with blood orange sorbet and macerated kumquats. It was excellent and certainly more creative than one would expect in a family restaurant of this type. The waitress was extremely attentive without in any way becoming obtrusive or irritating. She was one of the most professional waitresses I have seen in German restaurants.Overall, I recommend a dinner at this very pleasant restaurant.

We had a great lunch in this restaurant. All adults and kids enjoy the meal very much. Portions were huge and could easily work for two people. Great value for money especially if you are ther for lunch and can order the lunch deal. Strongly recommended.

Arrived about 715 pm en famille for dinner.Nice welcome in English, decent beer. Good food pleasantly served, with flexibility of dishes- eg Bratwurst with a great portion of sparge. Children menu was very helpful, albeit unexpected. Salads served as starters were top class as we're mains. Dessert a bit disappointing. Parking not too easy in the rain.

Try and enjoy our German cuisine: traditional-modern - German-Badisch. Taste the typical flavors of our region - the Black Forest - with nuances from all over the world.
We were served in the garden and had a lovely meal surrounded by roses. Food was excellent - traditional choice.

On a scalding hot night everyone else pretty much sat outside. We sat inside and it was cooler there. Massive plates of food, well cooked and well presented- good solid German fare with several nods to Baden Wurttemburg cuisine. Top value, tooThe senior plates were still too big for us (even though we're not seniors!)

After several meals of amazing German comfort food, we were in need of a little variation. We happened upon this little gem. Although it was extremely crowded, we only had to wait at the bar about 10 minutes before being seated. We had an extremely efficient English speaking waiter who took our order quickly and brough our drinks even quicker. We each ordered a different pizza and all of them were fantastic. The service, food and wine were all fantastic and the price was reasonable. I would highly recommend this restaurant for something a little different.
