We stumbled here by case and loved the nice place, good food and lovely personnel.We liked to seat in the Wintergarten with a view on the wood.

The picturesque little town of Michelstadt in the Odenwald is remarkably well provided with restaurants, pubs, cafes and bars. We liked the look of the Rathausbraeu. In keeping with the rest of the town it looked like a traditional German pub-restaurant. We sat down at one of the tables outside and were not disappointed. We had an excellent lunch there. The food is traditional German:we had a pork steak and a venison goulash and beer to drink. It was good value and service was good too. We would be happy to go back on a future visit.

I attended a weekend board meeting for a Christian youth program.For dinner we (5) chose to eat at "Zur Schmelz".They accommodated us without any problem. The well tasting food was served fast, the waiter was attentive without interrupting conversations.Im looking forward to get back to that restaurant and enjoy another meal.

We went there for dinner with two little kids. Service was very good, especially regarding all the little things around kids meals. Dishes were great. I had "Rinderfilet vom Rothenberger Rind". Very delicious and not too expensive. Liked it very much.

Wer "Bärenhunger " hat ,der liegt hier richtig.Wir waren 3 Freunde und genossen das vorzügliche Mittagessen.Suppe und Dessert im Preis inbegriffen!Roulade mit Rotkohl und Klössen,;Rinderbrust mit Wirsinggemüse und Salzkartoffel sowie Jägerschnitzel , Salatteller und Croquetten.Alles auf den Punkt , gleichzeitig serviert und lecker.

We had a great evening family get together with the help of the efficient friendly staff at this restaurant. The choice of food was comprehensive and local. The servings were wholesome and well prepared. The decor is very welcoming and would not be out of place in the highest class of hotel anywhere. This place is a true revelation. An hour or so out of Frankfurt or Mannheim, you can come for the forests and the air, and enjoy a hearty meal as well.

Ob Schnitzel oder Steak, ob Hausmannskost aller Art oder Schlachtplatte - im Spälterwald bekommt man alles ganz frisch und ganz sicher nur aus der Region. Der Wirt, der gleichzeitig Metzgermeister ist, und sein Team legen extrem viel Wert auf Qualität. Meine Familie und ich kommen nun schon in dritter Generation dort hin und sind immer sehr zufrieden gewesen und ich bin mir sicher, werden das auch in Zukunft sein.

Food is traditional German with selections of wild game. The food is delicious. The service is friendly, and the atmosphere homey. Prices are moderate, good value for the money. There are several side rooms for special occasions or private dinners. One is a Hunters Room with a Kachelofen which is very cosy. There is a terrace with umbrellas for shade and a beautiful view when the weather is nice. Outside the restaurant are Odenwald hiking trails for an after dinner walk. The location brings in hikers, bikers and motorcyclists along with the regulars. Desserts are especially good!
