Gasthof Hotel Blaue Quelle

Settling in for a relaxed meal at the Blau Quelle is like slipping into your favorite slippers, pulling up a comfortable seat, and taking in the splendor of the Alps, while awaiting the best trout meal anywhere! Visiting the Quelle is a lot like "coming home." Our singing divas, both young and old, slipped into a companionable frame of mind while enjoying some of the Tyrol's finest food! Naturally, the forelle blau was perfectly cooked for all of us, and our famous guests were right at home in one of their special places:Austria. Slipping easily into the dialect, they ordered the specialties of the house, poached trout, with a bit of palatschinken as dessert, flambeed with their home made schnapps, apricot filling, etc. The beer and Gruner Veltlener, luscious white wine from the Wachau Valley and with the Quelle's own label now, made for an exciting meal, though super relaxed. Watching the actors coming in for a bite before one of the performances in the Opera Haus, our sopranos and mezzos reminisced about their love for Austria, its people, and especialling its music. From Bayreuth to Vienna, there was no finer place for them to dine than the Blau Quelle that day. Memories are made of this stuff. PS: Dear Struth Family, we shall return in December for your winter goodies! Can't wit to see you and dine with everyone, especially Tante Bergie. She always has that special welcome awaiting the Quelle's guests, and she can give you the best reviews of what to do in this glorious area.Dear RhythmA5678,many thanks for taking your time for this great review and your positive words. We like to hear that you felt well at our restaurant. We like to hear that you honor our hospitality and recognize the high quality of our service and used products. We would like to welcome you very soon again and looking forward to that. With best regards from Erl and from family Gaby & Alex Struth and the entire Blaue Quelle-Team

This is an amazing valley - no road at all - already have one review further down the valley !

This Alm is at the far end of the Kaisertal valley (no road) so is an approx 2 hour walk on the direct path from the car park at Kufstein (need to climb up 100 hundred steps to get into to this fabulous scenic valley). If you walk the far end of the valley you reach this guest house surrounded by high peaks . It has good food and drink a great play area and river running through . On a summer's day with their plant pots out it was a great place to end the walk (for climbers the start).Inside it is immaculate and with a great style in this remote location so would be great destination for walkers to stop for the night (we did minor this time so can't comment further on the accomadation).(I have also reviewed the Alm nearer Kufstein for a shorter walk in the Kaisertal)

Gasthof Veitenhof

This was our third stay at the Veitenhof and this trip was planned to co-incide with the first Sunday of the month when the Gasthof Veitenhof stages a 'Farmers buffet breakfast'. For day visitors this costs around 19 euros a head and is very popular with locals. It takes 40 mins to hike up to the Veitenhof but this can only help you work up an appetite for the amazing breakfast! We chose to stay overnight and at 45 euros per head we thought this was good value. The spread for breakfast of local speciality cheeses and meats, organic products, breads and freshly cooked sausages and omelettes was truly amazing and absolutely delicious. There was also sparkling wine and juices and everyone eats at a leisurely pace which means that breakfast lasts from 9am until lunchtime! The family who run the Veitenhof work extremely hard to put on this breakfast extravaganza. The family Pirchmoser are all very welcoming and super hosts with a sense of humour which transcends our slight language barrier! We will definitely return to the Veitenhof and very much hope to experience the farmers buffet again.

Went here with a group, which was recommended by our hotel. The overall setting has a relaxing feel, which was perfect after a day of skiing. Everyone enjoyed the food that they ordered. I got their appetizer platter which was a good assortment to try. The only issue is that the food did take a long time to get out. We did have a large group, but it didn't help that there was only one waiter for all of us. If I go again, I might try it with a group of 4-6 people versus 20+.Thank you very much for your recommend. It's not always easy to prepare fresh dishes for a bigger group togheter. We are sorry that you were waiting so long. We should have offer a fixed menu for your group.Sorry.

This place was such a special experience and I will definitely be back. We weren't sure if we should go because it is a bit outside of the main town center, but it was totally worth it. We had been out in the cold hiking all day and this was just the right thing. The restaurant itself is very rustic and authentic. We were able to immediately get a table for two although many tables were either occupied or reserved. I recommend booking in advance because it seemed like we just got lucky. It seemed like a family friendly place and the service was very good, attentive and super friendly. We ordered from their rather straight forward menu of good, home-cooked Austrian comfort food. I had a kind of taster platter with three separate items. They were all out of this world delicious. Such good food. For dessert, we had the Mirabellen Dumplings and they were definitely in the top 5 best desserts I have ever eaten. I can only say Wow when I think of the food. The prices were also very reasonable. The wine menu, while rather small, had some good wines on it. This is my top recommendation for dining

Dropped in here for a meal last night while staying across the road at the Lambacher guesthouse. It was very busy (about 7:30pm on a Saturday night), but the waitress managed to find us one free table that just needed to be cleared. We weren't really hungry as we had eaten a massive lunch at Tegernsee Brausterbl, so we ordered drinks first, a dark beer (Dunkel) for me and a Pinot Grigio 0.25L for my wife. The Pinot turned out to be a rose! The menu was in German and I couldn't understand most of it, so the waitress brought us an English version and we ordered one meal to share (Shashlik with french fries). When the meal appeared, it was clear that this order was also mixed-up, in that we had a very full plate each! The food was very tasty, with the shashlik of meat and veg covered in a goulash-like sauce and the chips were the crispiest, tastiest ever with the gravy! Although full, I managed to eat most of mine and my wife finished hers off completely! The waitress was lovely, very helpful, and i think the kitchen screwed up our order, hence, only 3 stars, but the food is definitely worth 4 stars.P.S. I also am giving just 3 stars because the restaurant was way too warm, even when we stripped down to T-shirts. A poor lady on an adjacent table was fanning herself for much of the night!
