Friends and I on Viking Cruise ventured into this place. Had a great time at this two story restaurant that is looks just like what you’d picture a German restaurant or beer hall should be. We had great service and great food. Wiener schnitzel was two huge patties and another dish was a buttery, cheesy spaetzle that was delicious. Very good beer. Highly suggest and easy 15 minute walk from our dock.

I´ve been here for supper on a business trip. Service (two women) professional and very attentive. After having finished half of my "Krustenbraten" they asked me to bring some additional sauce. Quality and quantity of food and dessert were excellent. Comfortable atmosphere. It was exactly the business I was looking for. Strong recommendation.

Brandl Brau

If you're after a typical beer garden, Brandl Brau is not for you. If you're a tourist in Regenburg and looking for the currywurst/Wiener schnitzel/sauerkraut staples - the stereotypical Bavarian foods - once again, Brandl Brau isn't the right place. Instead, it's a place that does great beers, well cooked and tasty real Bavarian food and has a homely and welcoming atmosphere. When you visit you are just as likely to see people playing cards or chess as you are to see them talking. This place is a place to socialise, and the fact it's successful in that is shown by the number of locals there. As a result, if you want to dip your toe into the Germany of the Germans, this is a good place to start. The menu is not particularly extensive, but the selection is pretty good, and it's full of traditional Bavarian home cooking; baked, grilled or roasted meats, pot roasts, tasty sauces, local style dumplings and generally not a chip in sight. For any Brits reading this, think of a 1970s local village pub that served steak and kidney pudding and real ales, and this is the German equivalent. Service is informal and efficient, and the staff are friendly, all smiles, welcoming and helpful.Unusually, the Brandl Brau doesn't do badly catering for vegetarians either. Given the Bavarian propensity for pork consumption, Brandl Brau does well to have a couple of vegetarian dishes and a fish dish on the menu in addition to the bread boards and starters.Overall, a place to enjoy several times to get the full benefit.
