Rustic Ikea furniture and laminated menus. The old fashion French coffee (more burnt than tasty) and the simplest of red wines. But food was well prepared and the owner discretely friendly. Had we stayed near by over night, it could have been fun to experience the locals partying too...

What a lovely little restaurant in Avize. An old posthouse converted to a restaurant. Had plates, with lots of different charcuterie and cheese together with champagne. It was so good and an amazing owner. Closing at 19. 00 on Thursday, sent a message and asking if possible to arrive 18.30 and we were so welcome.Just a small funny thing, the toilet is behind the mirror doors and the floor is made if coins

We booked this restaurant as we were staying in the Château Etoges for a night - good job as there is no where else in Etoges to dine!That said both the Château and the restaurant are really excellent!My wife chose the set menu with a lobster cooked 2 ways as the starter and lamb as the main course. I chose the set menu with rabbit pie as a starter and sea bass as the main. We were both delighted with our choices. For me, the small rabbit pie was one of the best pies I have ever had - would definitely choose again. The main courses were equally well received. These were then followed by cheese and then the desert. They gave an extensive cheese selection on a trolley and I particularly like the burgundy eppoisse - a very strong cheese - luverley!All in all a very very good meal and an excellent place to stay for a night or two. Definitely on my list of stopovers to/from the UK.

I cannot help wondering how this could have bad reviews of any sort. We paid a lot more elsewhere and left disappointed... not so here. Four people, different orders, all impressed. What more can I say?

We have been traveled through Champagne region with several friends. On Friday night it's almost impossible to find a place to eat if you are looking for quality food. We were lucky to get recommendation from a local lady and thanks to the friendly stuff we got our table. Simple but exquisite menu, helpful and friendly service. Great champagne and wine, what else do you need? I highly recommend this place and be back soon for sure.

Fortunately we booked a table for lunch (4 persons) well in advance, because the restaurant was 'completely sold out' when we arrived.. Great staff & very friendly .. a small menu card but all overly fresh and delicious. Wine and Champagne list is longer than the menu card ... :-) but is nicely priced. Charming interior, good service and great food = La Gare! On our next Champagne tour we will certainly book again!

Beautiful combination of old historical building with modern furnishings. Dinner was served out in the patio. Very gracious and nice server. Food was quite good although nit every course was so inventive. Would have stayed at the hotel but they have no air conditioning.

we have already stopped several times in this restaurant at noon to have a main course. You are served in a quick way (where not in France...) and the food is of a good quality. The food is not very original but it is what you expect of it.Don't drink champagne in a restaurant like this because it is overpriced... Go to a local Champagne house and you probably have a whole bottle for that price...

Had a quick lunch here, service was fast and attentive. I only had steak and chips which were good, I think good value for the money. This is the nicest restaurants I visited in the area and I highly recommend.
