Culver's of Urbandale

We came here after seeing the chicken tender ads on TV to check for ourselves. We got the values baskets, one, a chicken tender and the other, a Reuben. See pics. They come with fries and medium drink. Both were very good, fresh and piping hot. You order at the counter here and they cook it to order and bring it to your table. This Culver's had been remodeled since we were last here and it's warm and inviting. Very family friendly. Friendly staff. Clean. Prices are just a bit above a McDonald's, but the food is quite a bit better. And this one is located right off I35/80. Marcydiner tantrum scale of 5/5-no screaming kids.

Our family likes the Sesame Chicken, General Tsao Chicken, the Vegetable Fried Rice, and the wonton soup. The steamed or fried potstickers are great. But some of specials include an egg roll and a crab rangoon which are both delicious as well as a cup of soup. Lunch and dinner specials differ so pay attention to what is included in each. Dinner portions are bigger than lunch portions, and lunch portions are big enough for two people. Prices reasonable, service good. Casual dining, order at the counter and they bring the food to your table.

Tamales Industry

The owners of tamales industry take great pride in the product they are selling. The tamales literally start from dried corn. The corn is milled, soaked, made into masa (corn flour), filled with your choice of meat, and finished in the traditional corn husk. The process takes 12 hours according to them. Be advised; because of the lengthy, labor intensive process you'll run into some foibles. Once they run out for the day, they're out. Period. Second, the price can seem a bit steep. But considering the labor intensive process, it's about par in my book. I inhaled my meal. The tamales are delish! Honestly think the one's I used to buy from the Mexicans in the grocery store parking lot as a kid were better. But these are great, and worth your try.

You set at counter on red vinyl seats or a side area. Watch food cooking in front of you. Food served on white paper with plastic utensils. Enjoy the chili, coney. Fries and onion rings are a large quantity. Prices are fair. Been around for a eternity. Used to be a full drive-in. Still has signage and overhangs for such. Its a neat place to visit. Staff friendly and fast with food delivery.
