This is one of the best restaurants in town. The food here is always well prepared and beautifully presented. Booking in advance is essential as this is a popular restaurant. We pre-booked vegetarian food and they made a fantastic effort to present us with a wonderful array. There is a lot of choice and also a buffet salad. The deserts are delicious? It's good value for money and the place has an attractive decor.

Seems like awhile since I've come across a restaurant like this in France. The kind of place that you used to find more often. Great well prepared food made with good ingredients without any pointless pretension. The sort of food that France used to be famous for. It was a total pleasure to eat here tonight. The terrace with wonderful views was just the icing on the cake. For the reviews that mentioned slow service I'm afraid I have to disagree. This is food served at the right speed with plenty of time in between for conversation, good wine and time to digest the food you've just eaten. I'm afraid we've all gotten too used to microwaves and McDonalds!I look forward to returning soon.

We hadn't planned to have lunch and we found la Cantina by accident on the square. Service was quick and friendly. Salads, steak and fries and pizzas were very good. A good spot for kids. Having once lived, part time, in the Tarn for ten years, my husband and I were always on the lookout for new dining experiences during our visits. Returning this year for a holiday we were very pleased to discover Chez John and although it's a little off the beaten track, it's well worth the drive. Modern and chic, the restaurant is spacious and airy with the addition of a seating area for an aperitif, something most French restaurants don't offer. The menus are well thought out and delivered on all counts. Beautifully presented, amazing tastes and flavours....and hot plates! Another thing the French don't always get right. The wine list offered very reasonably priced wines with our particular favourite being a white Faugere. We enjoyed our first visit so much that we returned a week later! Well done John....we will be back.....but not until next year, sadly.

We have eaten at this restaurant many times over 20 years, under various managements. The current one, relatively new, seems a disaster. The front of house staff were disorganized, inattentive and unprofessional. We sat at the table for an HOUR before any food arrived, apart from a basket of white bread. If we hadn't been with friends, we would have gotten up and left. It was a busy day--the weekend of the village ceramics festival, always a highlight of the year in Giroussens--and you'd think the restaurant would be well prepared and staffed for the usual crowd--but far from it. It was a perfect opportunity to show the community the chef's best culinary offerings--but the food quality was also poor. We were told it would be a menu fixe--only two selections--and that would have been fine if either had been any good. Both disappointing, especially the ghastly fish dish which seemed to be frozen lotte with some kind of bottled shellfish poured over it and two huge peeled potato halves resting atop it all. ZERO for presentation, zero for taste. Perhaps not suprisingly, the waitress didn't question why 90% of the meal was still left on the plate when she removed it.We had booked two weeks in advance to have a table in the airly terrace room with a view over the lovely countryside. Instead we were shuffled into a dull side room with walls painted grey, slate-colored curtains, beige table clothes and poor lighting. The heart sank. The restaurant offered to take off the half bottle of wine given the long wait, but nothing could redeem this depressing experience.

We discovered this charming restaurant by accident, while we were enjoying a driving tour trying to locate pigeonnaires. Our lunch was delicious and well-priced. I had a cheese plate that was a work of art, and our dessert - creme caramel - was absolutely spectacular. Our table was adjacent to the open fireplace, which added to the warmth and ambiance. Our attempts at French were terrible, but the waitress was very patient and accommodating. This is a lovely town with a very interesting Museum of Chocolate Art.

Visit at lunchtime and you will be absolutely delighted. This is a little gem of a restaurant tucked away in a tiny village on the edge of the Gaillac wine region. The set menu at lunchtime offers a good choice of beautifully presented meals and exceptional value for money. We visit the area frequently and have been here many times. I can thoroughly recommend it. In summer it is very pleasant to eat outdoors under the shade of the mature trees in the garden. Lovely tranquil atmosphere.
We stopped off here recently on an intensely warm day, with temperatures at 38Ë and rising. We mistimed out trip, arriving in the middle of the day - just as the restaurant had stopped serving food. However, they very kindly directed us to the local boulangerie, where we bought food and then they welcomed us back into their shaded cafe and served us drinks. They were so kind as we were tired and hot. The coffee was the best cup that I have tasted on this holiday. Thanks guys - you are life savers :-)

Weâve heard that the food can be a bit hit and miss, but on the day we ate lunch (Magret de canard) the food was very appetising.
