An elegant & charming Italian restaurant open six evenings a week and offering traditional sunday roast lunches
I complained about our meal and put a trip advisor review under the Linton Hotel as I did not know that these are 2 separate entities. The Owner from the Linton responded to my review - she said ..... CCTV camera showed our plates were empty! I called the hotel and suggested I view their CCTV camera with them as it is not true, we did not finish our meals, they wont let me see the footage! I was then also told that my Trip Advisor reviews are generally negative so it shows what type of a person I am ???? and the manager then put the phone down on me whilst I was still talking. My trip advisor review was factual, it stated that we did not like the food, that it took ages for the plates to be cleared and that when we did bring it up with the receptionist she did not help us, or show any interest. The hotel manager told me that he believes her and not me. I am appalled by the way my review has been handled, I have tried to call the owner twice (who intitially responded to my review) but have not been able to speak with her.

After hearing and reading a lot of good reviews we thought we would give it a try on a Friday evening. When we arrived we were given a cocktail menu but no food or drinks menus. The waitress was lovely but not very knowledgable. She didnât know what gins were served and when we asked if there were desserts she said we could choose from the counter only to then bring a menu. We were left sitting with dirty plates for quite a while then a few were cleared and again the rest were left. The food was ok but the fish cakes werenât very hot - new ones were prepared. The patatas bravas appeared to have been reheated.Sadly we were rather disappointed by the food and service and at £49 for 6 tapas, a G&T and a bottle of sparkling water we didnât feel it was very good value.

Firstly, the service was impeccable. The Sommelier gave us excellent recommendations for the wine. Catina Cabernet Franc with main course and Chardonnay. The starter dishes were just so lacking in tase. The tomato special was a soggy puss..sorry, but would not recommend. The main dishes we OK but the Doversole was eye wateringly expensive. An extra £20 each! So all in all not a bad evening, but somewhat expensive £176 for the two of us.
