Karakol (Kyrgyz: Каракол, Qaraqol/Karakol, قاراقول, Kyrgyz pronunciation: [qɑrɑqoɫ]), formerly Przhevalsk, is the fourth largest city in Kyrgyzstan, near the eastern tip of Lake Issyk-Kul in Kyrgyzstan, about 150 kilometres (93 mi) from the Kyrgyzstan-China border and 380 kilometres (240 mi) from the capital Bishkek. It is the administrative capital of Issyk-Kul Region. Its area is 44 square kilometres (17 sq mi), and its resident population was 66,294 in 2009 (both including Pristan'-Przheval'sk). To the north, on highway A363, is Tyup and to the southwest Jeti-Ögüz resort.

I have been to Hollywood twice to have a few beers with some friends. It cost 200 SOM to enter and the face control was being enforced..... it's an over priced Kyrgyz night club in Karakol. If you want to have a few beers go to a cafe in the center. I would not advise people to go Hollywood Cafe / Night Club. If your looking to have some night life go to Bishkek and have a much better time.

Great place for shashlik, the house specialty. Went for dinner and the restaurant was completely full. One of the few places serving Shashlik all year round. Only two beers on offer, Arpa and Zhivoye, but it's good Shashlik, so you can't complain. Outdoor space available in warmer weather.

Over all one of the best places to eat in Karakol! It's clean and new. There is many types of Turkish food to pick from. And they have wifi I would go back again!

Fantastic spot in the south part of Karakol. They offer plenty of travel information for Karakol and surrounding area. They also have great coffee. Always full of travelers that are great to talk to about where to head next!They also offer food, but we have yet to try it.On Fridays they have Travel Trivia Night where you can win beer!

A pretty decent pizza. Cold cheap beer. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Shaded outdoor patio. Close to the centre of town. What more could you want? We came back for more after completing the Ala Kol trek. That's proof of satisfaction.

We visited the restaurant for our 1st dinner in Karakol. I'm disappointed. The food we wanted to try were unavailable, the services we received was lower than average. We asked some sauce for kebab and shasilik. There were 4 waitresses working there however the responses from them were slow and we were almost ignored! No acknowledgement....There are so many tourists in the restaurant so that presumably they are snobby and spoiled. Avoid.

We had just finished a tough few weeks in the mountains and were looking for good coffee and food, and what a find at Lighthouse!Came for lunch, stayed for dinner, and returned again the next day. Was just so nice to sit and chill, savoring healthy salads, yummie fried honey chicken and trout... ate our way up and down the menu and enjoyed the super friendly service and relaxed atmosphere on the outside patio.

There was plenty of choice on the menu and we chose the lamb kebabs which were very good as was the service. We also had good local beer served cold in glass tankard style mugs. The restaurant is very atmospheric with delightful décor. You will have a job to beat this price in Karakol for this standard of food. All for less than you would pay for a burger back home!
