We recently visited the St. Genis on a Sunday lunchtime with a French friend, who was firstly very impressed with our greeting by the owner who remembered us from previous visits. The food as always was excellent and the service very good.Our French friend chose the buffet for a starter and came back with a plate of grated carrot!! He said this was all he wanted and enjoyed it very much. I had the escargot which were delicious and my husband chose the tartare of courgettes that came with a beautiful Scotch egg. For main course the men opted for the hake with rice and vegetables, and I had a roast duck leg with slices of roast potato and vegetables.For dessert both my husband and I had the Apricot Tiramisu and our friend had the creme brûlée. A very enjoyable meal all round.

Arrived in Jonzac last Monday to find most eateries were having a well deserved night off. However, suddenly happened upon this delightful café bar and received a very warm welcome from the young, but most professional waitress, who advised us to clinch the inside table, as although there were many folk dining outside the evening was getting cooler and we wouldnât find an inside table if we changed our minds later - first good call!Although the burgers had run out (upsetting one of our party - although it was 8pm and really buzzing) the alternative fish salad we both had was amazing. Excellent and reasonably priced wines to accompany the food left us very contented. Full of well behaved families and the contemporary atmosphere next to Jonzacâs famous Cloisters made a successful contrast of architecture - whatâs not to like?

Cadre sympa, plein centre ville, juste à coté des parkings. un site nouveau qui est plein de charme et de surprises.nous sommes dans LE JARDIN près du puits.les plats sont originaux mais manquent cruellement de choix. nous avons pris l'assiette de charcuterie qui est très copieuse mais l'unique plat de résistance laisse un air de trop peu de choix.... et l'entrée froide ne nous a pas inspiré... c'est très bon mais le nouveau est encore bien new......le dessert fait maison est original (voir photo) mais encore peu de choix....

If in area this is a place worthy of a visit. Warm welcome extended although no English spoken. Menu at lunch time varied, excellent value. A unique place with a relaxed atmosphere. Plenty of parking.

The food is far below what you could expect, products are not of 1st quality, preparation is just regular, service is average.... When passing by LE 108, you would think that this could be a nice experience but at the end is is not.... Unfortunately not on the short list of the reasonable places in Jonzac

Tucked away at the back of the rather dull looking Hotel de l'Ecu is this rather stylish restaurant. There is the usual mix'n'match set of menus but there were several attractive choices, which, when they arrived at the table, were even better than expected. The menu had English translations of the dishes which is always helpful. The service is bright and friendly and the food is well cooked and nicely presented. Local wine is served as house wine by the glass or pichet as well as by the bottle and is very drinkable and modestly priced. Well worth seeking out, it gets a mention in Gault Millau.HelloWe thank you for your comment.We hope to see you again

We booked a table for lunch (booking highly recommended) in this very popular restaurant.The food was truly wonderful and the service very attentive and prompt. Located in a beautiful area, by the Chateau, it was a great find and most certainly a place we are returning to.

Stopped there for lunch while walking around Jonzac, primarily because they speak English!That however is not the reason we'd go back. The food was simply fabulous. Good simple well prepared food that was served by friendly staff. Definitely one we will go back to.
