Our Dutch friends thought we'd enjoy this special venue whilst visiting from the UK and it really is a treat from start to finish. Arriving on foot (you can arrange collection by golf buggy I believe), its almost like stumbling on something no-one else knows about in the middle of the woods! Starting with bubbles and nibbles outside we were ushered into the main restaurant (unfortunately all outside tables were taken) and were the only ones inside for most of the evening. The service and food are a real treat and portions are generous. It really is somewhere very special and I'd love to go again one day but be prepared to pay for the experience!The menu is limited and is not in English - from memory it was 4 or 5 courses with two main choices of menu but you can also chop and change a little. They are also extremely helpful with dietary issues as our friends son has serious allergies and it's the first place he's ever been served a truly special meal just for him!The winter snug and fire looks wonderful too.The only slight negative, and I have to agree with a previous reviewer, is that two of us had to sit in a window seat and had back problems by the end of the meal - not me luckily - but it is an issue in this calibre of restaurant. Also annoying when the rest of the restaurant was unoccupied.What a wonderful message, thank you very much! We're very glad that you've enjoyed the location and the food. We had a quick dinner at Smaak Makers. One can choose the 'cheap' option, the more special option or the very special option. We chose the rib roast and plaice fillet, both were really nicely prepared. They were served with roasted potatoes and mashed potatoes and stir-fried vegetables. Unfortunately we didn't have the time to have dessert, but they looked very nice, especially the grand dessert. Staff is very friendly and attentive.

Net nieuw, mooi pand, gezellige inrichting en vriendelijk personeel. Prima kaart voor lunch en een drankje. Je kunt er ook dineren maar die kaart heb ik niet gezien. Lekker geluncht en voldoende keuze. Aanrader !

A large group of family and friends came here on a Saturday for an early evening meal.The restaurant is in a beautiful location in the middle of a wooded glade. There is plenty of parking.There are tables and chairs outside as well as inside, and there is plenty of play equipment to keep children entertained.We had a set menu of three main courses - steak, chicken or salmon, served with chips and salad, and two desserts - cheesecake or fruit and ice-cream.I had the chicken dish - satay sticks with a peanut sauce and rice, which was tasty. The cheesecake was delicious.The staff were polite, friendly and obliging.

Op een kort tripje naar de veluwe dit restaurant via the fork (met 30% korting op het eten) geboekt. Ik schaamde me eigenlijk dat ik die korting kreeg. Dit restaurant verdiend eigenlijk het volle pond! Het was rustig bij aankomst en dat bleef ook zo. De dame van de bediening was ontzettend aardig en vriendelijk en gaf aan dat donderdag de stilste dag is en men ziet wel wat er aan komt waaien. We kozen voor de 2 gangen smaakplank (27,50) maar man o man wat een boel eten komt er dan op tafel. Het voorgerecht bevat 5 gerechten (warme gerookte zalf op een salde, carpaccio, uiensoep, een streekpate en brood met tapenade en knoflooksaus) en ondanks dat onze plank niet helemaal leeg was waren we al aardig vol. Daarna het hoofdgerecht die spareribs, sate, gamba's, een broodje met pulled pork, ratatouille en aardappeltaart bevatten (dat waren al 6 gerechten), daarbij nog heerlijke rabarber en frietjes. Alles was heerlijk en goed bereid. We hebben zelfs niet alles opgekregen.Toe ipv (als je wilde kon je probleemloos de 2 naar een 3 gangenplank waarbij je nog een dessertplank kreeg ook) een nagerecht maar voor koffie gekozen.Als we weer in de buurt zijn staat dit restaurant voor ons dan ook bovenaan om opnieuw te bezoeken. We zullen dan niet te veel eten tijdens de lunch om ook de derde gang te kunnen verwerken :)Bedankt voor uw positieve recensie. Wij zien u graag terug in Hoenderloo!

Loved this place upon arrival. Staff were really friendly and attentive. For starter I had this pork salad dish which was soo good all the flavours worked perfectly. For main i had steak with asparagus which again was unbeatable, my steak was cooked to perfection. Finally for dessert I ordered this ice cream and strawberry dish which looked and tasted really good, I loved the way it was served in a jar. The head chef/ manager has done an amazing job at creating such a great restaurant. I'd 100% visit again if I ever get the chance.

Driving around after a visit to the Nature Park and Museum nearby, we happened upon the Gem of the Nederlands.It far and away exceeded my hopes of finding good food in an area we knew little about. I enjoyed a lovely Trappist Beir. It was a wonderful start to the best meal I've had in 20 years of visiting the Nederlands.We shared the Duck Pate (Marbre van eendenbout, eendeniever, pruimenchutney, Aceto balsamico and brioche). It was fantastic. Absolutely Fantastic!!!Then we moved onto the Rump Steak with Frites (Dun gesneden rumpsteak van de houtskool BBQ, huisgemaakte frieten, seizoensgroenten en rodewijnsaus).The steak was excellent. Wonderfully tender with an outstanding sauce.To be totally honest though, the star of the meal though it was all perfect were the Frites. The absolute best frites I've had in all of Europe and the World. So crisp on the outside and tender on the inside. Having the skin on set them so far above all the others with that added flavor I love from the skin.The meal is worth traveling 100 miles for. It will be a must go back to place for me on my next visit. Even if I have to rent a car and drive myself.

After missing the bus to Apeldorn, we walked to Het Deelerhof to dine outside. My husband ordered buttered fish and I ordered a three course meal of tomato soup, German steak over grilled onions, and creme brûlée. The side dishes were leaks with cheese, cooked celery with sauce, potatoes, French fries, and salad! It was the best meal we have ever had! We were glad we had missed the earlier bus.
