We were a group of ten friends whom I had invited to celebrate our Golden Wedding. My wife and I had been before with my daughter's family and really enjoyed it.This occasion was also excellent. We had a table to ourselves so it felt quite special. Drink orders were taken quickly and whilst the wine was served quickly the beers weren't. Apparently the keg needed changing but I did think we could have been informed earlier as there was quite a delay. I had to chase up the non delivery which wasn't good. We had several bottles of an excellent merlot plus some excellent real ale.The food on the other hand was excellent. The chef's table was groaning with food and had something for every taste. I particularly enjoyed the seafood. Most of us felt full even before ordering our main courses. A wide variety of main courses were chosen from the belly pork, roast dinner to the burger. All were prenounced delicious and were all reasonable sized portions.Desserts were also excellent and a reasonable choice. Coffee followed and again there was a good choice.The service apart from the beers was very well paced and served in a friendly professional manner.We will certainly return as the lunch felt special and was in my view excellent value for the quality of the food and service provided.Dear NIRS3,Thank you for taking the time to write a lovely review for us.Firstly you have my apologies for the delay in the beers being served to your table this should not have happened and thank you for your patience. We have wanted to try for a while so today was the day we Loved it we travel to Italy regular so wanted a real taste of hubby started of with muscles in spicy sauce we shared a Rosemary sea salt focaccia so tasty then we had seafood pasta and risotto we could have been in attentive staff fab family run business. Intimate with classy decor comfy also really full but we had to try the tiramasu gold star Given will return forgot to take pic tiramasu love the menu good choice wine Thank you for a good dinning experience x

My husband and I visited The French Quarter for a late lunch. We ordered from the lunchtime set menu, 3 courses for £11.99. We both started with squid, very tasty, I followed on with fish which was beautifully cooked. My husband had chicken with mash in a blue cheese sauce which looked scrummy and we both finished with creme brulee which was delicious. The portions were fairly small but it was a lunch. The quality of food was very good. Our waiter was excellent, friendly and informative. We had a leisurely lunch and thoroughly enjoyed it, We will definitely return when next in Newcastle.

So good they named it twice! Thanks TripAdvisor and the previous reviewers, whose recommendations had convinced us to give it a try. We walked in and immediately started to enjoy the Italian restaurant experience. The service was prompt and efficient. The food was excellent and equivalent to the best meals that we have enjoyed on holidays in Italy. I don't know if they have Italian chefs employed, but they certainly understand how to create that authentic taste. We were there in the early evening and it was already very busy . The measure of a good restaurant!!!

a lovely place to stay , our room was amazing. fresh and clean. and you could see that detail was taken with every little task.the housekeeper please praise and her team as our needs were met at every level. when people save up to go away and spend cash that has been put away for a treat and you get the results that you wanted then working for this treat all year round is so worth it. the poached eggs oh my gosh are cooked to perfection. the tea served is not just a pot of tea it is a reward to the mouth. try the kippers with your poached eggs, if that does not take your fancy then try the poached eggs with just toast. the butter adds delight to the toast, thank you to all members of staff. for everything. we have enjoyed getting spoiled. we now return back to work but know when we start saving up again for a treat this place Eslington Villa will be what we aim for on our next holliday. as we drive back to Manchester we take fond memories and Genuine smiles with us. thank you again to everyone. Had an early bird dinner around six pm. Two or three course special, Monday night.We shared potato skins and then a pizza each, very nice, too much to eat so they boxed what was left to take home. Service was very good, pleasant all throughout our meal.My only disappointment was the desert, quite a few items off the menu, my only choice was Sticky Toffee pudding with ice cream, normally that would be fine but too full to have it this time, I asked for vanilla ice cream, which seemed to be a problem, they said, I could only have one scoop with a coffee, I didnât want the coffee but that was the only way it could be put through the till, I thought I might have been able to have maybe three scoops of plain ice cream.We have provisionally booked for New Years Eve but staff couldnât say what the menu or price would be. Maybe a little late, Christmas menus have been available for a while.Dear Ian A, We are pleased to hear how much you enjoyed our great value Presto menu and that the service was also up to scratch, the confusion over dessert appears to stem from the fact that we do not offer our full dessert menu as part of the Presto offer with the only options being the Sticky toffee pudding or our 'Dolcetti' - mini desserts with a coffee, hence the offer of a scoop of ice cream with coffee. In terms of New Years eve the details are of course on the same flyer as Christmas, due to popular demand we no longer offer a set menu in favour of our regular menu along with some 'special dishes' created by our head chef.Ciao Team San Lorenzo

I haven't eaten in here in about 24 years when it was the Blacksmiths Table. We made a last minute booking yesterday for Sunday lunch and we weren't disappointed. The restaurant itself has been tastefully decorated and we just loved the fairy lights and candles. We thought it actually looked bigger.The food was amazing and my dessert......well I'm still thinking about the Ginger Ice cream and Warm Plum Bakewell. Well done to the chef, Lee. Well presented and very tasty. We'll definately be back.The staff were all really nice, especially Emma our waitress. Very polite and helpful.Until next time, thank you.

We have eaten at this restaurant on two occasions recently, and on both occasions the food has been excellent. Each time we have arrived about 5.30pm and although not particularly busy when we arrived, the restaurant soon filed up. On our second visit we decided that the earlybird meal was inviting, so my wife went for pate' as a starter and I chose potato skins. My wife then chose stroganoff and I went for the sirloin steak with a peppercorn sauce. We both agreed that both courses were delicious, and with 2 glasses of Rose' the bill came to £41.80.which we thought was very good value. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and ambience, particularly when busy, and the staff are both jovial, and efficient. We will definately eat at The Board Inn again.

A converted pub on the South Side of the main street in Birtley.Arrived for opening on Saturday lunchtime and a shame that some of the old bleach smells of pubs were hanging around.Very quiet. Happy hour menu priced higher than currently shown online. Food was good with 2 courses for £9.95. Enjoyed houmous starter whilst my Mum obviously thought she was in an Italian and went for the potato skins option they offered. Both good.Both enjoyed chicken shish mains with rice/salad plus an extra of saute potatoes.All good enough and our waitress was pleasant.
