I can't believe there are no reviews for Varoska here. It is a small (recently extended) Hungarian restaurant just off the main street in Lodz. The service we have always found excellent and the food has never disappointed. Certain dishes are quiet spicy (as it is Hungarian) but the menu warns of them. The meats they have are unusual, boar, mutton, veal, venison etc. The portions are generous, but you have to order sides as extras. The stews and soups are served in little pots over a flame to keep them warm, which is very novel. They also serve a free glass of young white wine to each guest, poured in a unique way. I would personally recommend the Wild Boar soup - tasty, generous, cheap and delicious.

This restaurant was recommended by a friend from the city and by our airbnb host as a good experience of Polish cuisine. We had crispy duck(not so crispy as we expect it in Asia) which was moist and tasty, the dumplings were surprisingly light, the apple a perfect counter part. We also sampled the pork chop which was crunchy and perfectly cooked. The mashed potatoes were sprinkled w grace notes of âscratchingsâ. We also sampled side dishes of beets(very nice), buckwheat groats(nutty and chewy), and apple/leek salad(a bit bitter).In short the food was worth the wait... which was significant as the staff literally ran to try to address customer needs. Come armed with patience and time.We noticed it seems to be a favorite for corporate bring-the-visitors-someplace-local dinners.

Visiting this restaurant we expected more. The food appeared rather dull, apart from the good starters. The most disappointing element was the wine list, because we hoped to get there the nice choice of outstanding Bulgarian wines. The waitress was polite and attentive and the prices acceptable.

We were looking for traditional polish food and found this place. When we arrived, the server was incredibly welcoming and helpful. We had a great meal and enjoyed the atmosphere of the restaurant. They serve Ukrainian and Russian dishes, too. The restaurant is off the main street, so you'll have to go down the alley to reach it, but that just adds to its charm and gets you off the busy street.

The ambiance is very nice, staff helpful and serving with smile.However the food lacks depth, often loaded with fats.Probably the most horrible onion soup and garlic soup.Beef cheeks cooked off and deprived of any flavor. one can hardly imagine that, but unfortunately true.Food loaded with artificial preservatives.Not recommended.

The cured herring was excellent, especially with the accompanying bread and salad.The boiled beef was quite chewy and didn't have much flavour but the vegetables were fresh and crisp. I think the tomato salsa was out of a jar and didn't add anything. The potato cake was flavoursome, if over charred on the outside. The Paschal cheesecake was the best I've tasted for a long time.Helpful, nice people.Overall, I'll eat here again very happily.

Was on a work dinner here. Food selection is very good. Service is alright. Ensure you make correct selection in steak cooking time as understanding can lead to incorrect food served. Would go back again.

We enjoyed our meal at the Anatewka. Once inside, the restaurant is full of Jewish items and photos and the decor is different to the usual.Staff were helpful and food was of good quality, with the price being reasonable too. Starter and main plus drinks came in at £25 for two.
