Some of us might remember the Disney film of the same name and the play of words between Remy (the Rat) and Ratatouile (the one vegetable stirred up dish)where the rodent faces the challenge of becoming a chef, while pleasing the food critic , is memorable.This story has proved irresistible to restauranteurs and the Restaurant Ratatouille in Harderwijk,a Hanseatic Town in Holland,is one such manifestation. Located in the historic Vischmarkt square of the Oude Town, the place is the brainchild of Wim Zwaart (Masterchef) and Tina Zwaart (Vinologist) and has undergone extensive redesign opening up spaces at different levels, affording views of the modern kitchens and providing various private seating arrangements.While Restaurant Ratatouille is open only for dinner and Sunday brunchthe extensive menu and wines draws clientele both far and near to its doors.The prices at this possibly the best restaurant in the area are high as befits the high standards set and no one is complaining.The tradition of Ratatouille is in good hands.

To finish our midweek short trip in Gelderland we chose for De Basiliek because they has a nice offer with Heerlijk.nl.A 5 dish lunch which was enjoyed with an excellent Viognier. All dishes were something special. They first appearance is beautiful. The first taste is nothing special, but when you combine its ingredients it appears that the chef knows what he is doing. Complex taste and beautiful presentation is a trademark for this restaurant. Only point of criticism is that the portions are too small......but do not let you be withhold to go over here, because they may be small but are certainly outstanding at a very reasonable price .... as long as it lasts. ( eur. 39,50)

We booked a cycling arrangement via socialdeal website. For 8,75 euro p.p. one is received at approx. 10.00 a.m. with a cup of coffee and a delicious home made apple pie with some fresh fruits and cream. After one makes a cycle ride at lunch time one is served a soup (choice of a variety of three) and a choice out of a Dutch Uitsmijter or Broodje Gezond. Although the soup was too salty the Uitsmijter and Broodje gezond were terrific. Really a generous portion and with the Uitsmijter also some salad was served. Well done.

We had made reservations for a real Sunday lunch and were not disappointed at all. Season starter from the asparagus menu (with crab), two main dishes and strawberries as desert. All was straightforward good food. No "modernaties" like foams or fusion. Pure, good products, well prepared. Wild boar cheeks and confit duck legs, both with a very well matching sauce. Service was friendly and spontaneous, When you are ever on the "Veluwe", make the detour to Uddel !!Thank you for the great review. It was nice to help you and hopefully we will see you again!

After hearing about the fact this place won best chips in Holland we had to visit ourselves. It is always busy and love the twist they have to the original 'puntzak'.Great food, friendly service and amazing chips.Thanks for your review and visiting us, all the way from the UK! We went for a special beer and found a hugh card of beers from all around the world;Difficult to choose. Own brewed beers have a good taste and during day hours,a shop is next door. They also have a great daily meal or other snacks.We loved the place!!!

Nice location, outdoor seating, rural atmosphere. Staff not friendly. Takes long time to being served. ( several occasions)?No apolgy for mistakes, like forgetting order, not willing to take order for snacks at 11.45, because they didn't serve snacks before12.00.Cold coffee. Rating could easily be so much better if staff would be friendlier, more hospitable .

When you come into this restaurant you will be hit by the friendly and warm atmosphere. The food choice is good and the food itself is wonderful and very tasty. THe restaurant is clean and the staff is friendly and very helpful. De prices are reasonable. The surroundings of this restaurant are excellent for walks and.... you really can enjoy a tasteful cup of coffee/tea with cake. If you want to have a really good day out this is the place to be!!

This continues to be a regular favourite. Good food, friendly service and nice atmosphere. Menu isn't exhaustive but what is offered would mean there is something for most tastes. Prices are as expected, as eating out in Netherlands isn't the cheapest. My main complaint is that drinks come in very small glasses!
