Liked the fact that some staff could speak English and were very helpful. Food was very good (rib eye steak) and plenty of it. The apple pie was sufficient for 2 of us to share. Was very busy so quite a wait to be served.

This countryside café is situated next to the superb B&B "Het Midden van de Wereld". It is a little local café with a very nice outside terrace where locals meet. Good choice of local beers. Café has limited opening days and hours but is a great stop during or after a hike or a bike tour in the area. About 3km outside the Diksmuide city center.

Stopped here on the way from visiting Westvleteren Abbey. The kitchen was only partially open at 5:00 so we were not able to order a proper meal. We noticed immediately that the menu said NO CREDIT CARDS. However since we are EU residents we have what is referred to in Dutch as pinnen aka a bank card, not a credit card. So we proceeded to order, when the bill came they said "oh we don't take those cards either" I had to leave my husband at the bar while I trekked into town to find an ATM.

I ate twice at this restaurant on my latest visit to Diksmuide and was quite happy with each experience. I found the food to be quite tasty, the service to be very competent and the atmosphere to be sedate and relaxed. I was also happy enough with the prices considering the overall experience. My colleague and I were in Diksmuide on business recently. We stayed at the Best Western in town and they recommended this place for lunch on the day of my arrival. Our distribution partner also brought us here a day later for dinner. He told me that the ownership of the hotel housing the De Vrede and the management of the Best Western were related so it is no wonder the latter recommended the former establishment for meals. But in this small town where the options are limited, I was not at all unhappy with this choice. The location of this restaurant on the town square (Grote Markt) was somewhat picturesque and very pleasant. The exterior had a bit of an old European, turn-of-the-century feel in this town rebuilt after the First World War. The interior was nicely decorated and offered a very quiet and comfortable atmosphere.I was greeted right away and seated for lunch on my Sunday afternoon visit. The service was quite good during my meal. The menu was typically continental and had a local bent. I opted for a dish that featured the local shrimp, a small grayish variety. It included a creamy sauce that was wonderful in taste and served over tomato wedges that were incredibly fresh and tasty. It was accompanied by a large bowl of french fries (pommes frites) that could be refilled on request. My dinner the next night was a fish preparation that likewise featured a very tasty sauce, again with a bottomless bowl of fries. The prices were not too bad considering it was Northern Europe. For my lunch of shrimp and frites, the total was €23 including drink and VAT. This was just under $26 USD at the exchange rate at the time. This was not a terrible deal given the quality of the fare and the location.Overall, this restaurant provided an enjoyable dining experience. The food was very good, the service was efficient and pleasant and the atmosphere was quite nice. The prices were not bad given the location and the quality of the fare. If you are in Diksmuide, this place is worth a try.

This was a truly fabulous dining experience. We had an asparagus themed dinner in the srping. Every course had something asparagus in it. Far from being repetetive, which we had expected, each selection was outstanding. The chef understood how to run the theme without overwhelming the dining experience with the vegetable. We also did a Resiling wine pairing which was out of this world. One of the best dining experiences we have ever had. Don't miss it. We can easily see why this has a Michelin star.

OK for drinks ; but we waited for half hour to be served whilst terrace was not full and inside their were ample people. no repeat visit for us.Hello, i'm suprised that the staff is not frendly ! Iff we don't serve food on the terrace its because eather we have no waiters enough or there is to much work in the kitchen ! That you have to wait for à half hour that is very long , i would-be gon in 15 minutes because thats allready long to sit and wait. Have à nice day
